HOLLY FOR SANTA. A frolic on the rtier of the ever pop dlar donkey game is always in order n. for a Yuletidt. gathering of young folks. 11 Vary the ple:ture a little to suit the oc Scasin and offer a prize to add zest to e. the struggle. If the hops are not at L hand to offer inspiration for the new Sversion of this contest, any one with b some little artistic skill can draw a r. picture of Santa Claus on a square of he muslin and color with tinted chalks. nf The youngsters are blindfolded one A0 by one and ire sent to pin a spray of 'holly in Santa's hand. It is, of course, . the one who conmes nearest to accom plishing this feat who wins the prize. Sa copy of some poiulatir Juvenile story. im The children who stihk their holly ft sprays farthest away from l mark t may be condemnited to perform some Sdraw imagintary reindees r in the air r with the index tinger in the presence of the rest of the company. An amusing Chrlstmas trick is to r make a small star uipon the wall with a piece of white chalk. One by one t the players kneel upon the floor at a n distance of about two feet from the wall and with arms folded, behind the back bend forward and try to kiss the mark. With a tall player the distance o might have to be a little greater. but with players of an average height two ifeet from the wall will make it very e difficult to succeed. and the arms most on no account be unfolded. Prizes may r- be awarded successful players. e IVY AND HOLLY. Very little people will enjoy a rimed pastime called ivy and holly. Chairs are arranged It two rows, and the children sit facing each other. One e youngster begins with some adventure. as "Holly and Ivy went out toa party." The child sitting opposite must com g plete the rime wi:h another couplet, a for instance. "Holly and Ivy came back bhale and hearty." SIndeed. there is no reason why the e pastIme ashould be entirely relegated to the kindergarten. On account of the It rapidity with which the rimes must Sbe thought up the older boys and girls b will find It amusing too. eFor a pretty search game which - young children as well as the school Sgoing boys and girls would enjoy at b Christmasn partles, cut several hundred k Ittle holly leaves from green tinted I paper and hide them in the festive 7 rooms. Thomas Martin, forty-two yearer old, of Sumner and Newton streets, had a thrilling encounter Monday with an imaginary reptile around his neck. and in fighting the "monster" he wounded himself in the neck with a pair of scis sors. Ils1 wound was dressed at the iHospital for Mental )iseases, and he was charged with disturbing the peace. A hurry call was rc-eivsed at the Eighth Precinct Station, and Patrol men Brown and .laciob hurried to Mar tin's home, where they found him on the floor, struggling with the supposed monster. Martin had a pair of scis sors clutched in his right hand and blood was flowing freely ft am a wound in the right side of his neck. Martin told the policemen that the monster was clinging to him and was strangling him, but the policemen fail ed to see the reptile and had the wounded man taken to the hospital.
