from any point of view-as a serious

cal exhibit of the best modern stage
craft, or an example of the best
composition in (reek and oriental
music- it is distinctive and dis
tinguished.
The present production of the play
,so far as embillishing effects of the
stage go, is entirely new and orien

in the swiftly changing scen's of the
play and twelve horses participate
in thoe stirring chariot race. The
G;rove of Daphne, the Fountain of

Olivet are admirable pictures of
ancient scenes. The music is singu
larly fine and was written to fit the
scenes and incidents and atmosphere
of the play. It is the work of Prof.

Edgar Stillman Kelley. This is the
only play the Rev. Billy Sunday, the
noted Evangelist, has ever referred
to as worthy of praise. He said: "I
wish one hundred million people
could see it, and I should like noth

and women just after they had seen
"Ben Hur."
CRESCENT THEATER.
How Prance marshalled her man
fighting forces, how the great army
was put in the field and how the re
public has battled with the invader
are depicted for the first time with
anything like authentic precision in
''France In Arms", the great Cinema
film which has just ben booked for
a short showing at Loew's Crescent
Theater.. The first showing will be
an exhibition affair at which Gov.
Pleasant, Mayor Behrman and Consul
Genoyer will sit together as the guests
of Manager T. C. Campbell.
The exhibition showing has been
arranged for Saturday at 11 o'clock.
There will be one hundred guests
made up of ladies and gentlemen, and
the entire State Council of Defense.
"France in Arms" was taken by
the Cinematograph section of the
Walt Whitman in Triangle
Play. "The Tar Heel
Warrior."

French army. At the opening France
is shown organizing its citizen
soldiery, then comes the great I
national army on its way to the front,
the great gun factories, munition
plants, aeroplane cantonments and
mobilization camps are shown. With
a consecutive progress the film car
rles the audience to the front, where
there are crashing climaxes develop
ed. One of these is particularly his
toric film showing a midair fight be
tween a French and German aero
plane, in which the Hun is sent to
earth.
"Over the top" is the caption of
another vivid section of the film
which shows the French soldiers on
the trench hill with set faces and
grim determination awaiting order to
charge. Then comes the word "over
the top", and the fighters are seen
in their terrific leap into the jaws
of death. Then comes the bayonet
fight and the terrible stream of
wounded being carried to the rear,
followed by the inevitable stream of
German prisoners who are sent back
for interment from captured trenches.
Consul Genoyer will bring his con
sular staff and the French societies
have been invited to the exhibition
showing Saturday, which will be at
the expense of the Loew Theater
management.
