from the effect of the winds and tides
to which his majesty is suuject. We
have not yet passed the point where all
epprehension of danger from the high
water may be safely dismissed, and the
continued watchfulness of our Levee
Guard we believe to "e of more than
,previous importance at this moment, in
/consequence of the many unprincipled
and incendiary threats which come to
us from the North. We must hold
ourselves in readiness to treat all the
Black IRepublican incendiaries of the
North who attempt outrage within our
borders with those special marks of at

I-Y Messrs. CIu.s. II. MOORE & Cc.
of Baltimore, Md., the publishers of
that excellent periodical, the "Southl
ers Family Journal," in a supplemenl
issued on the 11th ult.. use the fiollow
ing language in regard to present and
future prospects. They say:
'To our Subscri bers.--\Vith the issue
of the lresent supplement thie publica
tion of the l.oturnal will be temporaily
supended. It is needless for us to say
that we feel a deep regret in being comm
pelled to make this announcement;
but the necessities of the times leave
no otlher course optional. With the
various highways in the neighborhlood
of our city broken up or obstructed
with mail facilities (for periodical es
pecially) in a measure cut off'--and
with the utterly disorganized coniditionm
of our political and businoss affairs
with all those difficulties in our path. it
is, we repeat, a matter of necessity with
us to discontinue our publication for at
few weeks. Wo trust at the expiration
