Southern Methodists Built Church and
a Half Every Day Last Year.
A church and a half built every day
during the past year is the record of
the Board of Church Extension of the
Methodist Episcopal Church South, ac
cording to reports made to the thirtieth
annual session of the board at Louis
ville, Ky., on May 8.
Many of these were in the West and
Northwest, where tht growth of the
church has been phenomenal. Applica
tions for loans and donations before
the board total nearly $446,000.
Twelve out of the fourteen bishops
of the church attended the meeting.
The board has at its disposal about
$2'00.000, which will be distributed equ
ally in loans and donations. In the
thirty years of its existence the board
has invested a total of $.`,697,928, and
has aided 8,3994 churches and 2,177 par
