i PERSONAL AND OTIIEiiWISE I J. J. Butler of Clarks was in s town Wednesday of this week. i District Attorney Richey of t Jena has been at his post here v this week. Attorney J. C. Harper of Winnsboro attended court here the first of the week. International stock and poultry fo;l and dipping fluid at M. E. Yarborough's. t Mrs. C. P. Carroll of Ruston x arrived Wednesday and will S spend several days here with d her husband, Mr. C. P. Carroll. Attorneys A. B. Hundley and G. L. Alford of Alexandria have t been attending to legal matters s in Columbia this week. x t Big line of patent medicines and toilet articles at M. E. Yar- ( borough's. If not in stock will take pleasure in ordering it. Mrs. H. W. Blanks and Mrs. H. C. Blanks left Tuesday for New Orleans where the former I will undergo an operation. W. A. Pankey of Bay was in c town the first of the week and paid this office a visit. He add- t ed his name to our list of readers a for which he has our thanks. f t We are in receipt of several t conmunications for publication but we are unable to do so this t week on account of a large a- . mount of legal matter that e crowds them out. Mrs. W. S. Culpepper and k pretty little daughter, of Mon roe have been visiting in Colum- t bia this week, guests of I Mrs. Culpepper's brother, M. L. f Mecom and family. Mrs. Frank Yarborough and C baby will leave this week for - Mangham, where they will join Mr. Yarborough in their new fu ture home. They have been the guests of relatives in Columbia The proceedings of the police o jury that we stated last week I we would publish this week will t be published next week. The f cause of this procrastination is b that sickness in our family d have kept us at home a greater portion of the time. As advertised the Mangham t ball team showed up yesterday t [Thursday]afternoon and played a a hotly contested battle with the , Advertisers at the Columbia d ball park. The game was as hair raiser from start to finish. W. Klin was in the box for the C visitors and delivered the goods. a He introduced 18 of the home boys to the bench, while H. W. McCuiston was his back stop and was on to his job through- - out the game. Prestige did the twirling for the Advertisers and occasioned 16 of the visitors to lay the stick down and walk back to the bench during the game, he was in first-class form. Elliott did the receiving act and it can be said it would be hard to find one to beat him in this section. Both in and out fields of both teams filled their posi tionls well and were on their toes all during the game. The fea ture of the game was the two batteries, and both twirlers pull ed themselves out of a tight several times. At the winding up of the game the score showed that Mangham was . victo rious, the score stood 6 to 5 in their favor, This makes only two games our boys have lost this season, and they have had some hard ones to go up against. Don't be discouraged boys you can't win them all. Constables Sale Fourth Justice Court-Parish of Cald well-State of Louisiana Rogers Bros., vs S. S. Gregory.
