The following jurors were excused: Diogene Savoie and Geo, Roger. Bill of information was filed against Mareena Vidrine for carrying concealed The trial of Wilie Shn, eecused of having carnal knowledge of an unmar yiled female under the age of 14, was fixed for March 10. Bench warrauts were issued in the following cases: Willie Sudduth, Mar tena Vidrine, Joseph Warren. Willie Davis, C. T. Eaglan. The trial of the case against Cappel Norton was fixed for March 13. In the case of Feliclen Ardotn the trial was fixed for March 16. The ease of the State vs. Lee Kelley. charged with assault with intent to rape, was tried and a verdict of guilty with a recommendation for clemency, returned. Tuesday, March 7. District Attorney flies a bill of infor mation against J. P. i. .Fontenot for violating act 81 of 1886 and c. c. w., and t a bench warrant issued for his arrest. C Trial of the case against Thomas Bo- I thick was fixed for the 16th. The trial of Lucius Johnson on the charge or murder was proceeded with, and a verdict of not guilty returned. This case was tried last term and a mis trial entered. Wednesday, March 8. The case of Emile Nartin was fixed for March 18. Same in case of Stanislas Lalotide et sl. Case of Louis Jean et al was fixed for March 14. Case of Abe M iler fixed for March 16,. Billof iaformation filed against Guas tine Andrus for asssalt with a danger uos weapon and . c. w., Cleopbas Vidrine withdraws plea of not guilty and pleads guilty. Sare in ease of Homer Whatley. The bond of Wmi. Roberts, charged with petty larceny, was forfeited. Thursday, Mareq 9. Mr. Daly moved to adopt the follow ing ordinance as submitted by the com mittee appointqd to make whatever ehanges in the road ordinance as they deemed necessary, and upon being duty read was adopted, to-wit; Be it ordaieed by the Police Jury of the Parish of St. Landry, That Section four (4) and sub-division two (2) of See tion eight of the road ordinance, adopt ed Feb, 1908, be amended and re-ordain ed so as to read as follows: See. 4. Be it further ordained, etc, That contracta for working the public roads for not less than one nor more than three years, at the discretion of the member or members of the police jury of the several wards shall be let during the month of January of each year, or as soon thereafter as practicable, nnder the joint supervision of the road inspeo tor and the member or members of the Police Jury for the respective road dis trict at some central point In said road districts, te the lowest responsible bid der, after ten days pubic notice by ad Vertisement lin the osoll journtal of the parish; provided, that the member or members of the Police Jury for beach road district shall have the right to re jeat any or all bids; and when a bid has been rejected, they shall have the right either to readvertise the work or let same at private contract, as they may deem best. In case of emergency they shall have the right to let out either construction or repair work without ad vertising. Contractors to whom say work ls awarded shall give bond for the faithful performance of theircontracts in double sie amount of the contract price, with one or more good and solvent sureties, to be approved and accepted by the member or members of the Pollee Jury for tue road district for which the con traet s let.
