PROCEEDINI OF THE POLICE JURY. Opelousas, La., Nov. 1, 1909. The Police Jury met in regular ses sion this day with the following mem bers present: Dr. Clopton, President; Messrs. Durio, St. Cyr, Dailey, Doucet, Singleton, Ac duel Fontenot, Lanclos, Willis Fonte not. On motion of Mr.St. Cyr Duly seconded and carried, The Po lice Jury adjourned until to-morrow morning at 9 o'clock, this being a legal holiday. Nov. 2, 1909. The Police Jury met pursuant to ad journment. Present: Dr. Clopton, President; Messrs. Durio, St. Cyr, Dailey, Lanclos, Doucet, Singleton, W. Fontenot and Ac duel Fontenot. Mr. St. Cyr called to the Chair. To the Honorable Police Jury of St. Landry Parish, State of Louisiana. The Standard Oil Company of Louis ana, represented herein by Theodore M. Towl, its duly authorized Agent, with respect representsa That it is engaged in laying a pipe line for the purpose of carrying oil from the oil field in Caddo Parish to a point in the Parish of East Baton Rouge, Loutsiana; that in laying said line it will be necessary to cross public roads of your Parish at several points as fully shown by maps herewith at tached, and your Petitioner respectfully requests that your Honorable Body grant it permission to lay its line or lines across the said public highways, upon the following conditions: That the Standard Oil Company of Louisiana will lay its pipe or pipes across said highways, at a depth of not less then Three (3) feet below the sur face of said highways; and that all earth removed in the laying of said pipe or pipes across the said highways shall be replaced and thoroughly tamped as soon as the said pipes are laid; and that all drainage on the side of said high ways be left open and in the same con dition as found. On motion of Mr. Theo. Doucet Whereas the Standard Oil Co. of Louisiana is engaged in the laying of a pipe line for the purpose of carrying oil across the State of Louisiana to a pcint in the Parish of West Baton Rouge along the Mississippi River, and that In laying the said pipe line, it will be nec essary to cross several of the public roads in the Parish of St. Landry. And whereas the said Standard Oil Co. of Louisiana have made application to this body to grant them a right of way across the public roads of this par ish thatmay intersect with the course of said pipe line, a drawing of which is appended to the petition. Therefore, be it ordained by the Police Jury of St. Laudry Parish, Louisiana, in regular session convened that the Standard Oil Co. of Louisiana be and is hereby granted the right to lay its pipe line or lines across all of the public high-ways, that may lie across its path, and that the said right of way be and the same is hereby subject to the fol lowing conditions, to-wit: The said Standard Oil Co. of Louis iana be and is hereby required to place its pipe line or lines across any of the said high-ways at a depth of not less than Three (3) feet below the surface thereof, and that all earth removed in the laying of said pipe line or lines across the said high-ways, shall be re placed, and thoroughly tamped as soon as the said pipe line or lines are laid; and that the drainage of the said high-ways be left in the same condition as found. Mr. St. Cyr in the Chair. The committee on claims reported through Chairman Lanclos that they had examined the claims as detailed and found same correct. On motion the report was accepted and committee discharged. To the Hon. President and Members -of the Police Jury. Gentlemen; We, the undersigned committee, beg leave to report that we have examined the statement of the fis cal agent as submitted, and found same correct, and recommend that a waarant be issued to said fiscal agent for the sum of Two Hundred and Eighty-Three dollars for salary interest month of Oct. '09. J. E. DAILEY, THEO. DOUCET, Committee. On motion of Mr. W. Fontenot The above report was accepted, and warra9t ordered issued to said fiscal agent, as per committee report. Motion carr.ied Motion by Mr. Dailey That the report of Messrs. N. L. White and A. J. Muller, timber inspectors ap pointed by this body, on their work ac complished during the month of Octo ber,'09, be and the same are hereby re ceived and accepted, and ordered placed on file. Motion carried. Motion by Dr. Clonpton That the petition of citizens of Bayou Petite Prairie and Dry Bayou, asking for an appropriation to rebuild the bridge across Dry Bayou at its mouth, be received and that an appropriation of forty dollars be made out of the 4th ward internal improvement funds to rebuild said bridge, and that Messrs. R. L. Hawkins, W. A. Duckworth and John heard be appointed to sell the con tract to lowest bidder and receive same i when completed. Messrs. Durio, St. Cyr, Dailey, Lanclos, Clopton, Doncet, Singleton, W. Fonte not and Aeduel Fontenot voting yes. Motion carried. On motion of Mr. Dailey The Police Jury adjourned until 2 o'clock p. m. Mr. Dailey moved to amend Mr. Fon tenots resolnolon by making the appro priation five thousand dollars, as verb ally agreed upon by this body at 4 pre vious meeting, seconded by Mr. St. Cyr. Messrs.
