Mr. Price was en route home after a' visit at New Orleans where he at tended the bedside of his ven erable father, Mr. John D. Price whom had been seriously ill. The friends of Mrs. Harry Winters regret to learn that she is confined to her bed from ill ness. Mr. Joseph DeRouen of the U. S. S. Relief arrived home on leave of absence to visit his parents this week. Rev. J. F. Solignac of Loreau ville was a business visitor in New Iberia on Tuesday. Mr. Fred W. Bauman has been confined to his bed for a number of days at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edwin Kyle. We understand he is improving rapidly .since his ailment. Mr. Broughton is under the im pression the straw was inten tionally set afire by some one. This is the second time he has had a similar experience with his baled hay. We understand several days ago that another large batch of straw which was about to be boated to New Ibe ria by Capt. The driller Mr. H. L. Pilgrim has again taken charge of the task and the Com pany will penetrate the bowels of the earth several hundred feet more at that point and if they fail to bring up the fluid remove the derrick and ma chinery to a spot nearer the Bernard well. The Company has» recently disposed of suffi cient stock to carry on active operations through the influ ence of Mr. Max Zimmerman, the manager of the Boldt Paper Mills. This gentleman has in every way identified himself with New Iberia's interests and we hope will be successful with this undertaking. o —Parish Assessor Cesare J. LaBauve left on Wednesday for Baton Rouge to spend a couple of days submitting his tax roll for the Parish of Ibe ria.
