Meeting of State Agricultural Society.
The annual meeting of the Louisiana
State Agricultural Society, which is to
convene at Baton Rouge, on the 27th,
28th and 29th of the present month,
promises to ble the most interesting of
the .eleven annual sessions that have
been hold by that body. Just now the
North and Northwest are looking with
eager eyes toward the South, anxious
to make homes in our sunny climate.
No State in the South presents such
agricultural resources as the State of
Louisiana, and no section of the coun
try is susceptible of such indefinite de
relopment as our favored State. To
induce immigration to the State, to
give value to our lands, we must de
velop along the lines of education, ag
riculture and immigration, and these
three subjects will form thg trinity
upon which the society hopes to build
the future edifices of improvement in
the State. The society desires to lay
the corner stone at this meeting. The
iociety expects to adopt measure. en
couraging the organiatia of 1 PIFa
and State fai.s, and giweaeaeialaS ra
t]oan,to immigration mattae. It is aeto
hoped to form a tocek 1a(R~s irs u
ciation. A:l the rai roaM have red
to.give rJdtied rates, and the ity of
Baton Rogeo will extend a warm atl
coate to the delegates.
