I WELSI! vs VS ST. MARTINVILLE At Sportsmen's Park, Monday and Tuesday, Ju ly 18 and 19. Admission 25c. - Te bite of a large water-moccasin u- snake caused the death of Charlie d Gill, the thirteen-year-old son of J. ,d M. Gill, a merchant of DeQuincy, a this Parish. The little fellow, in com k pany with several boys, was playing in the neighborhood of Buxton creek d Sunday afternoon wh€. the snake was seen, and they immediately gave a chase. Cill was the first to arrive at the place where the snake was hiding, e and while bending to get a clear I view the snake sprang from its hiding place, coiled itself about the boy's e arnm and sank its deadly fangs into the flesh aboye the wrist. The boy died early Monday morning after suf fering agony all night. The unfortu nate boy was a nephew of ex-District Clerk H. C. Gill, of Lake Charles. Garland, the fourteen- .ear-old son of Mrs. Alcide Tiebert, of near Hayes Station, was painfully, if not fatally injured in a peculiar manner Friday afternoon. It is said that young Hebert became intoxicated and started home on horseback. Like a typical western bronco-buster he used spurs, so it is reported, and soon the horse became unmanagable and ran into a barbed wire fence. Both the horse and rider were entangled and with every lunge the animal made the wires were drawn tighter about the boy's limbs until his clothing and much of the lesh were torn into shreds. The 4 ::'i. loal was cut to ieces tand died shiortl y afterward. The young man dild not regain consciousness until the following morning. The chances for his recovery are decidedly against hiim. ee at MONEY-EARNING. id MO1,EY CAN UNQUESTIONABLY ,t EARN MONEY. BUT SOMETHING MUST BE BOUGHT. OTHERWISE. IT WiLL BE IDLE. IDLE MONEY.
