While the disease of charbon is generally supposed to be contined among cattle, two cases have come to light in this vicinity where men have been infected from being near the cat tle and having serum carried to them by stinging flies and mosquitoes. 'The two cases are both being treat ed by Dr. Watkins. One of them is John Demareste of Big Lake, and the other one is James Scott of Lac asihe. Both will recover. The cause of charbon in cattle and animals is the bite of an insect or fly. The place swells up in, a lump, and the poison finally spreads to the whole system, killing the animal affected in a great many cases. The two gentlemen who are now under medical attendance for this have been attending to cattle that have been in fected, and it is supposed that they were bitten by the flies from the charbonned cattle.-.L.
