The Place of Pravyer in our work, and a prayer service. Rev. Leeds led our thought in his usual careful spiritual way and all were profited by the hour of mede tation and prayer. Following this hour of preparation, Dr. Frank E. Jenkins preached a most inspiring sermon. by the theme. The ('church but a means to advance the Kingdom of God on Earth. The closing session on Saturday morning was de voted to a Work rs' Confereu.*, dealing with the problem of the suc cessful church. IRev. M. O. Lambly opened the dis cussion by outlining the minister's relationship to the church, and l[rv. C. C. McCoy emphasizing the respons ibility of the membership. A number of the pastors and dele gates took cart in the discussion and all agreed that unless the church be so much alive that souls are being saved through its efforts, it cannot be called successful. The reports from the churches brought evidences that our work is prospering in every quarter. Hammond Was chosen as the place of meeting for the next association, and Rev. J. A. There can be no question but that this is an action that should be taken sooner or later. If the present finan cial condition of the city is such as not to warrant the increased expendi ture at the present time, then we be lieve that action looking toward in ereasing our school funds should be taken at an early date. The question of disposing of the title of the school grounds and building is one that is surrounded with some little sentiment, which should not be permitted to in terfere with taking whatever course of action may be necessary for improv ine the efficiency of the schools. We believe this is a question in which the will of the people should be ascer tained as near as possible, and to this end we would be glad to see a vote taken by which the consen sus of public opinion might be ob tained. .. ..---- O ,a ---- Pleasent Evening at the Park. The members of the Presbyterian Sunday school spent a very pleasent evening at the Ball Park, Friday, where they enjoyed a moonlight pic nic and a camp-fire supper. Aside from an abundance of sandwiches, pickles and etc, coffee and oysters were served from the camp-fires until the appitite of ev:'ry one was fully satisfied. Besides the supper the young folks enj,'rod many of t't'. old time games in the moonlight. The evening was altogether one of the pleasentest that the Sunday schools has enioyed.
