S TO THE PUBLIC
I wish to announce that Jack Morris, who
has been working in my taihloring establishment,
Sand Henry Ray, whom I have had in my Ice
Cream Parlor, were hired by me upon the recom- 5
mendation thait they were thouroughly compe
tent. I have found them both to be irresponsible
and have dispensed with their services. I have
secured for the work in the ice Cream Parlor Mr.
Hen Gabbert, known to all as a thoroughly re
liable young man. I am arranging to secure a
thoroughly competent man for my tailoring de
partmnent, and assure the public that their wants
in both establishments will be carefully cared

Ships With Special Facilities for Pro
tection of Passengers.
From information received from the
Southern Pacific Company, operatinL
the steamship line between New York
and New Orleans, we learn that pas
senvers using that line need have no
fear in case of accident. The life-boa
capacit.y of these ships has alwayvs
been stficient to accomodate all pas
sengers and crew and the wireless
equipment is such that the wireless
room at all times, night tand dlay, is
in charge of an experienced operator.
Notices are posted in all staterooms,
public roonis and the steerage, show
ing the assignments of occupants to
splecific boats, and all life-boats are
counspicuouslyv numbered. Fire and
boat drills are held at each port as
well as on the first day out and pas
sengers are invited to take part in
them. Stewards demonstrate how to
attach life-belts to the body. It is
said that these are not new rulings,
but have been in force on these ships
for several years.
