Wallace is in New Orlesas attending the first meet ing of the new State Board of Equalisation. The United Daughters of the Confederacy met with Mrs. J. J. Burks on Wednesday of last week and all had a most enjoya ble time. The last meeting was with Mise Elvie Crawford. Mr. Q. P. Lovett of Tide called in a few days ago to renew his subscription to The Sentinel. He and his brother grow and put up the well known "Lovett Bro's. Pure Ribbon Cane Syrup." Mr. L. M. Moorehead and his family arrived last Saturday from Ruston and will make their home in Winnfield, Mr. Moorehead to superintend the building and operation of the plant of the Winnfield Ice Company. The Police Jury adjourned un til Jan. 9, 1607. January 9, 1907. The Police Jury of the Parish of Winn imet pursuant to adjourn ment. Roll call showed all members present except D. B. Williams. The minutes of the last session were read, corrected and on motion adopted. By Mr. Dunn: That the follow ing names be added to the new road, Winnfield and Urania, as reviewers, viz: C. A. Tarver, A. P. Collins and W. G. Smith. On motion P. B. McClain was allowed $55.00 as convict guard. An ordinance to provide for the paving of the sidewalk around the Court house square and the four walks in the square and to appropriate for same. Be it ordained by the Police Jury of the Parish of Winn, in regular session convened: That a committee of three citizens be appointed to draft plans and specifications, to advertise for bids and to make a contract wite the lowest responsible bidder for the building of brick side-walk and curb around the four sides of the court house square, said side walk to be 8 feet wide, also for walks through the square 8 feet wide; that said committee shall also supervise said work and re ceive same when completed, and pay for same by draft on the treasurer. Be it further ordained: That the sum of one thousand dol lars ($1,000) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of the general fund, not otherwise ap propriated, to pay for said work. Be it further ordained: That B. W. Bailey, G. P. Long and W. F. Cooper are hereby ap pointed a committee as above provided. On motion the ordi nance was adopted. A petition from Fellowship School District, asking for an election for a special five mill tax for a period of ten years, was granted. The reviewers to review the new Gansville and Winufield road was discharged and Jim Logan was appointed overseer to cut oat same. By Mr. Smith: That the] sum of $3.25 be appropriated out of the bridge fund to pay J. E. Young for repairing bridge across little Kyieche Creek.
