Town 1all, Jan. 9, 1908. The Mayor and Board of Alder men met pursuant to adjourn meat, sad was called to order by the Mayor, Hon. C. M. Bevi, and the following members an swered to their names: Messrs. Abel, Cooper, Elliott an). Watts; absent Mr. Pye. A quorumn pres eat. Mr. Vaughan, onM of the butch ers in the Market House, reported that a number of individuals were violating Ordinance No. 75, in regard to peddling meat about the town, and asked that the provis ions of that ordinance be enforced as a protection to the butchers. who were doing business in the market. The Mayor announced that his attention had just been called to the violations of said ordinance and that he had placed an officer on duty who would look after the violations and see that the ordinance was strictly enforc ed. Mr. J. S. White, tax collector, -_ alled the Board's atenttion to the claims of the- Sulphur Timber & LOmber Co., and the Winnfield Iron Works, in regard to their assessment. They claim exemp tion under the law. On motion of Mr. Abel, the matter was refer red to Mr. W. R. Jones, town atterney, for his opinion and the tax collector was directed to act in accordance with his written Opinion, to be submitted at next meeting of the Board of Alder mse, which motion was adopted by the following vote: Yeas Abel, Cooper, Elliott and Watts, 4; ays, none; absent Mr. Pye. Messrs. W. M. Campbell & Co. preseated bill of three hundred and smvent-sven and 96-100 ($37.95) dollars for imsranee'ou town ball. Mr. Cooper moved that the ordinance t. read be adopted, was duly secsaded by Mr. Elliott, which 'as agreed to by the follow ing v.,: Mesrs. Abel, Cooper, Ellt and Watts; absent Pye. QOdinance was adopted and be oomes Ordinance No. 87. The Mayor presented a bill from W. F. Duffy, C. E., for Fifty ($50.00) Dollars for making a map of the town of Wianfield, which bad been referred to a com mittee, composed of Messrs. Cooper, Elliott and Street Com missioner White, with instructions to examine critically and approve or reject the same and make ar rangements to pay for the same. The committee reported favora bly. And on motion the Clerk' was directed to draw his warrant for fifty dollars out of the Street Fund in favor of W. F. Duffy. Mr. Elliott introduced the fol lowing resolution: Whereas that during the past year the work of the Clerk of this Board has been greatly increased and the alary paid i inadequate compensation for the work done, Therefore be it resolved by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in regular session, that the sum of ifty- dollare be--and he same is hereby aopropriated to pay the Clerk for extra ervices redered, and that he be authorised to draw his warrant for the same. Be it further resolved, That from and after the tat day of Jan uary, 1908, the salary of the Clerk of the Board of Alderme shall be fixed at one bundred sad twea ty dollars a year. Mr. Elliott moved the adoption of the above resolutions, which was seconded by Mr. Cooper, and was adopted by the followaing vote: Yeas, Cooper, Elliott sad Watts; absent Abel and Pye.: - The Mayor called atteation to the fact that two of the oertileates of indebtedness due by the town to the Wine PariskBask wae dae and that a cetasia ta had been set aside by Ordinaemes 4 and 77 for the paymeet of sad adbte.d son.
