Grappe, Justice of the Peace, of St. Maurice, was in town this week, interested in school matters before the police jury. Mr. J. A. Peddy, of Gibelanm, has yielded to the attractions of Winnield and accepted a position with the Winield Mercantile Company. The Sentinel appreciated a visit Tueslay from Messrs. T. C. Willie and A. J. Franks who were attending the meeting of police jury. Mr. R. L. Tannehill visited Moeroe Monday in obedience to a summons to appear before the United States grand jury in seesion in that city. He is known by the name of H. T. Pye, Jr. He came into the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Pye, the former of whom is the bank president. He is a 9-pounder and the parents are congratulated on this addition to the home circle. me. Tillman Brothers. The above is the name of the proprietors of a livery stable in the adjoining town of Selnis. Those who desire ready service and a reliable outfit will do well to call on the Tillman Brothers. They have good horses and re liable employees. Moved to Verda. The Winn Parish Tribune which has been published here for several months, with Mr. D. Coates as editor and proprietor. finished its career in Winnfield with the publication of the issue of March 28. Mr. Coates has moved the plant to Verda, where he will establish a paper and a jo oice. Mr. Coates is an ex perienced newspaper man and well qualified for his business. His new location is a good one and the people of the neighbor ing town zealous promoters of journalistic plants. It is hoped that Mr. Coates will prove suc cessful in his new quarters. Verda is on the L. R. & N. in Grant parish, Just outside of the Wine parish line. about twenty miles from Winnfield. A Runaway. The usually docile draught horse of Mr. W. F. Cooper took a spin Saturday morning with the express wagon which he draws. He was feeding at the back door of the warehouse near Main street, when some loose horses came running by and he con cluded to Join in the race. He ran for quite half a mile to the resideco of Mr. 8. J. arpenter, before he was stopped. He spilled the spring seat and wagon body in his race, broke the coupling sad brought up with the front wheels attaebched to him. The turkey is the king of the barnyard. In the forest be is a monarch who structs in royal pride among the lagoons and fastnesses of the fens and tangled wildwouods. His flesh is much sought after by the hunter and when be is bagged it is the occasion of a feast royal. One day last week Messrs. A. J. Mashaw, of Ruston, and Charles L. Jones, of this city, were so fortunate as to beg one of these wary birds. lIe was served on Thursday following his slaughter, at a dining in style befitting his tingly species, at the resadence of Mr. W. A. Mashaw. The tooth some repast was surrounded with all the necessary addenda to make it highly enjoyable. The guests at this dining, furnished by the' royal American bird, were Rev. J. B. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Mashaw. Mr. E. S. Bisekmon, Miss Blackmon, Mr. C. L. Garland, Miss Grace Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. J. A.
