Quarantine Tightening. The citizens of Lt. Mlrtievill, wheld a Mass Meeting at the Towi Hall Sunday morning while tbh Board of Health and Town Coun S cil were in session, to urge then 'to adopt stricter quarantine rulei and to put them in force. It wei reoommended that guards be pa in the parish to keep persons from 'entering the parish from the 'swamps by placing guards at the *different landings, it was also re. 'commended that volunteer guard. 'be placed at every entrance of the towu to see that no one enter the town without the proper health certificate. The meeting also re commended the oiling and screen ing of all cisterns. From now on we may expect a stricter quaran tine, and those who will under take to come here without the pro. per certificates will be detained at the camp which has been put in operation this week. The camp is an ideal one, being composed of one hospital and several tents pla ced in a beautiful little grove, where a few days can be spent very quietly, and agreeably. Peculiar Disappearance. J. La., Aug. 13. 1,05. A special jolut seesion of the Town Council and Board of Health was called this day by the Mayor and Dr. H. de Mas by chairman presiding and a quorum present. The Chair stated that the primary ob ject of the call was to adopt certaln re solutions calling oa volunteers to amt as patrol. guards sad laspeetors for the dif ferent blocks of this Corporation. On motion of Mr. B. L. Fournet duly seconded the following resolutions were unanimously passed: Resolved that all citiaenas be requested to report to the Mayor or Presideut of tUy nears or Health, for volunteer duty as quarantine guards. That volunteer may appoint guards to replace them, that a call be made upon * the citizens as volunteers for guards ser -vices from a roll obtained from the as tor. seesment or Registration list and that "* they be called upon for service inu the - alphabetical order of these lists. A mass meeting was held Tues day at the town ball, when the people decided that the tinme had come to tighten the quarantine re gulations, and place volanteer guards night and day at all the avenues leading to this town. The people have responded to the call in large numbers and it is expeo. ted that every citizen will tespond to the call made on him Tar guard duty. The fever is reported in. Lafayette, which are our neigh bors, and we were told that people were leaving the town in large numbers going to the sountry and to neighboring towns. There are persons in Lafayette, which is now reported as having one serious case of fever, who have been ex posed to the mosquitoes for three or four days before detention, which may be a cause of spread ing the disease.
