Railroad Election Called For
April I, 1912.
At a special meeting of the Town
Council held at the Town Hall
on February 23rd., for the pur
pose of ordering a special election
to take the sense of the property
tax payers of the town of St. Mar
tinville, on the question of levy
ing a 5-mills tax or so much there
of as may be necessary to raise
the amounts stipulated in the pe
tition of said tax-payers in favor
of the New Iberia. Lafayette and
Northwestern Railroad Co., the
Town Council has ordered the
election to be held on Monday,
April 1, 1912.

lice Jury, an ordinance was passed
exempting from taxes for a period
of 10 years, any Sugar Refinery of
not less than 500-tons capacity,
which is to be built and erected
in St. Martin parish.
