On Wednesday July the 17th.,J
Mr. H. J. Lovas, the assistant
manager of the Cumberland Tele
phone Co., here was married to
Miss Lucy Pedean of Jeanerette.
The marriage eoremony was per
formed at the St John Catholic
Church, Mr. E J. LeBlanc was
beet man and Miss Cecile Pedeatý,
sister of the bride, was maid of j
honor. j
Mr. and Mrs. Lovas drove to St. '
Martinville the same night, and i
will make their home here. j

Death of Rene Durand.
) Monday morning at 7:15 the j
death of Mr. Bene M. Durand was j
anniounced. Mr. Durand had been j
sick for the last eight months j
growing weaker day by day. Those
- around him knew that he was
doomed and when the end came,
it was not a surprise to them, but
it was nevertheless, a sad and pain
ful shock to his family, relatives
and friends.
Mr. Duarud was 'ged 57 years,
2 months and one day, was a mo
del husband, a loving father and
a good friend, and was, above all,
a religious manu, a true christian.
He was a member of the Knights
of Honor.
Mr. Durand leaves a widow and
a large number of children to
/ mourn his death.
He was buried at ten o'clock
Tuesday morning and his remains
were followed to their last resting
place by a large number of sor
e rowing relatives and friends.
