Martin, with a view of shortening
and bettering the road leading to
New Iberia, went into heavy ex
penses making a good traight
road near the Keyetone plantation,
with the understanding that the
Parish of Iberia would meet us
hialf way by building a road thai
would meet ours and do away with
the toll road, which is an imposi
tion upon the traveling public for
which the Pariheb of Iberia is re
sponsible. There is no reason
that in this conatry the public
should pay to go through a good
and short road. We have made
our part of the road and are still
waiting to see if Iberia parish will
do its shabre, but we fear disap
