--The people of St. Martinville
are getting impatient about the I
cement sidewalks and would like 4
to see the work commenced alreas.
dy, but it takes some time to get a
matter of this kind in good shape. O
Sunday and Monday we had a
slow rain and cold north wind that I
made things entirely disagreeable, I
but which will probably prove
beneficial to the cane crop, which
is small, and with few exceptions,
is not up up to the general average.
When you have a bad cold you want
the best medicine obtainable so as to
cure it with as little delay as possible.
Here is a druggist's opinion: "I have
sold Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for
fifteen years," says E os Lollar of Sara
toga, Ind., "and consider it the-eest on
the market." For sale by all druggists.
-Mr. Beynald Voorhies who is q
now is the book-keeping depart
ment of the Billeaud Sugar Fac.
tory, was here on a short visit
Sunday. Mr. Voorhies said that
the Billeanud Befinery would start
running about the 25th of tbis
month.
Here is a woman who speaks from per- N
sonal knowledge and long experience, 1
viz., Mrs. P. H. Brogan, of Wilson, Pa..
who says, "I know from experience that -
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is far en
perior to any other. For croup there is
nothing that excels it." For sale by all
druggists.
-There was a teachers insitute
at thhb High School here Monday,
which was largely attended, at
which every line of school matters
was taken up and discussed in or
der to make this school term a
succesafgl one. Tuesday the
schools were opened and we learn
the attendance at the opening was
very satisfactory everywhere.
If you have young children you have
perhaps noticed that disorders of the
stomach are their most common ailment.
To correct this you will flud Chamber
lain's Stomach and Liver Tablets excel
lent. They are easy and pleasant ta take,
and mild and gentle in effect. For sale
by all druggists.
There will be an excursion from
Eunice to Breaux Bridge to-mor.
row, for the closing day of the St.
Martin Parish Fair, where we are
promised a day full of pleasure,
sports and interesting exhibits.
The train will pass here at about
elhven o'clock and the fare for the
round trip will be 50 ots. Re
uritng the train will leave Breaux
Blrid(lg at about seven o'clock.
This mill he a good chance for our
people to take in the Fair.
Some time ago the Parish of St.
Martin, with a view of shortening
and bettering the road leading to
New Iberia, went into heavy ex
penses making a good traight
road near the Keyetone plantation,
with the understanding that the
Parish of Iberia would meet us
hialf way by building a road thai
would meet ours and do away with
the toll road, which is an imposi
tion upon the traveling public for
which the Pariheb of Iberia is re
sponsible. There is no reason
that in this conatry the public
should pay to go through a good
and short road. We have made
our part of the road and are still
waiting to see if Iberia parish will
do its shabre, but we fear disap
pointment.
