We learn that there i~e already a Democratic candidate for the St. Martinville Postmastership, but as Postmaster R. P. Halpben was appointed this year for a four year term, the new candidate will have A. long time to wait, Judge James Simon of the 19tb Judicial District Court made his appearance in New Iberia last Monday for the purpose of assign ing civil cases to come up before his Court on Monday Nov. 4th. The Judge has just cleared the docket in St. Martin Parish and is determined to keep up the good work as has been his custom since he has beeu honored with that re sponsibility. He informed us that it is his intention to bold in the very near future both criminal and civil terms in both Parishes con tinunosly every other week. Should he adopt that plan it will meet with the entire sauction of the tax.-payers and attorneys prac ticing at the bar as it will have the effect of keeping the jails almost free of prisoners in the future and will save mruch money to the tax payers. -N.
