The municipal election held h ere Monday, was perhaps the most hotly contested and exciting one held in manty years. Notwithstanding the great intet est taken by both sides, every thing passed off nicely and plea. santly, nothing happened during the csnnpaign or election day to create any bad feeltut among the supporters of either ticket. The present administration i4 oomposed ,f men who had but one object in view, that of the im. provement of the town and all their efforts were directed to ao complish that end and the result of the election is a full endorse. ment of the people that they have done their w ,rk well and have rendered a satisfactory account tro the people of the trust that was placed in their charge. The administration was opposeºt by the best and strongest politi. cal leaders of the town and every effort was made to regain posses. sion of the attairs of the town and in order to be prepared to meel such strong opposition it was ne cessary to make a hard political fight and a wise and shrewd man had to be selected to rannage the campaign, and Mr. t-i,-,rge Eastir was decided upon as the one fully capable to meet the opposition atn,: defeat them. Mr. i'stiu had back of him in the campaigu, many ol our wise political leaders who out. classed the opposition in every move they made. Mr. Eastin is much spoken of at this time as being in line as a candidate for the office of Cler" Court at the next elaction, and tha opinion waa freely expressel thai if he conducts his campaign aa vigorously and wisely as he conduc ted this last town campaign, he is a sore winner, he count on the very strong support of those who assisted him in this last and uno. cessful campaign.
