NUMD5-4-B Women Take Notice Registration Day Soon Here Word has been received that the registration of women is to be conm pulsory, but the service is still to be voluntary. Women, will you not avail your selves of this wonderful opportuni ty to help your country, and to make the world at large fully real ize the important part that women can yield in the affairs of a nation at such a time? There are so many lines of work that the woman can take up, with out interfering with home duties. Those who are not at the head of affairs; those who are in a posi tion to know the inside facts relat ing to this war, predict that the conflict will cover a long period, which means that we must all pre pare for hardships, and that we must use every bit of intelligence and energy we posses both in the house, and in a public capacity to further our country's interests, and so bring to pass the tonged-for peace.-Morgan City Weekly Re view. A Surveying Trip. -On last Monday forenoon we had a pleasant call from Mr. Chas. Gutekunst, of St. Martinville. He had just returned from a survey ing trip into the swamps. A par ty of oil people were prospecting for favorable indications, pointing to likely sites. There is perhaps no man in the country as well ac quainted with the swamps from a surveyor's view-point as Mr. Gute kunst, and certainly there is none who can with more certainty point the way. As the trip, for many reasons, had to be accomplished afoot. Their course ledl them through water up to their arm pits.
