European News.
By the Bremen and Anglo Saxon
we receive European advices to the
o2th June. The follewing excerpts
from the New York papers will be
fbuid of interest:
` ho Paris correspondent of the
Iudepuvdenee lBelge, writing under
date of June 10, says:
I told you that Mr. Rost, deputvto
Europe from the Southern seceded
states, appeared to have returned
very well satisfied with his trip to
Lolndon. I can now give you some
details. Mr. Rost had obtained /rrom
Lord Palnerston the -frrmal promise
f the ereognition of the .Southern
Sttes at a per ied more or less remote.
Perhaps the English Minister had,
as a by-view, the intention ft waitinur
to see whether the seceded itates
will be able to resist the etfi-rts which
those of thme North ar: going to at
tempt against them.
According to the itopressions
brought away by tly r. Rost there was
no uderatasding bletween France and
rngland in regard to the sinul/tane
oas recognition of the Southern States.
But is appears that the recognition
will be made separately by these two
powers. It is foreseen that the deter
mnination of the English Government
would excite a lively irritation in the
Northern States. I do not know
whether it is supposed that that irri
tation will go as far as a declaration
of war against England by those
States. But I am pretty positive
that the British Government is pre
psring for any emergency. The En
glishl forces in Canada and Nova
ecotia are being largely increased.
Recapture of one of our Vessels

of bacon fiom Smnithfteld bound to
Norfolk, was yesterday recaptu.red
by some of our ftiends up James
River. It appears she had somne five
or six persons n hboard who wove
etgaged on a recontttnitering expedi
tion, and having gut up the river be
yond the protection of the enemny's
guns, the wind died out atnd lehf th.im
to the mercy of their captors, who
pounced down upon them in boats
and secured vessel and crew.

Lincoln Sends Arms to Our Tidun

that a lot of muskets shipped by the
Administration at Washington for
Dresden, Tenn., and designed for the
Union men of Weakley county, con
signed to a commuistiou merchant at
Paducah, Ky., were. by accident,
forwarded to Union City. The num

In the hands of Southern men at
Union City, they will be put to good
use. [Memphis Bulletin.
A Good aname.-The name of
Jackson seems to gain an enviable
distinction in the ipresent war. First
James W. Jackson, of Alexandria,
Va., slew Col. Ellsworth for inter

folloT. Second, Gov. Jackson, of
Missouri, has taken a bold, patriotic
stand for the South, against heavy
odds. " Third, rrs..Jackson, of Taze

money could not purchase her pro
