This movement bus been gaining strength
for several duya, and to-day n basis of
action was agreed upon between tho part
ies thut is likely to prove adventageous to
both. Tho programme Is that tho leaders
of the female suffragists aro to havo
a hearing for their cauio upon
the floor ol the house, to produco upon the
country what thoy are pleased to turm "n
moral effect." For this prlvilcgo tho
suffragists are to throw their influence In
favor of the now coalition, to enrry for it
in next spring's elections S'cw Hampshire
and Connecticut, and some few of lu lead
ers, prominent among whom will
bo Mrs. JJooker, aro at otico to go into
thcio stutes and take the stump ugainit the
Grant republicans. Already thoir influ
ence is being full ns shaping nominations
in Connecticut', nnd their Influence is
counted upon to accomplish much good in
that direction to the party to rccelvo Its
labors. Tho movement Is well understood
in Connecticut and the Knit, and
tho friends of Knsliih and I'ond ro con-
aultinK with the heads of this cotilitlon as
to nominations for Governor and mem
bcrs of Congress. In the I'rcildentlul con
test too women will lavor summer s tneir
candidate, but will gladly tupport cither
Trumbull or Judge J)avi. Mrs. Hooker,
Mrs. Cady Stanton and others expect to
be able to get before tho House for their
arguments next week and are now prepar
ing their addrets.

Tho plaintiff alleges that on tho 30th of
May, 16C0, the defendant at New Haven,
Connecticut, nnd at New York, solicited
her in marriage; that she is now unmar
ried, and In consideration of tho protnisu
of tho plaintift that she would marry the
defendant when requested to do so within
a rcitionable time, the defendnnt promised
and agreed to marry her, but failed to do
to, linvinj;, as tho declaration anoces, ana
in violntlon of his promise, married an
other woman, whoie name Is tint known to

marriage with Mi. s Wilkinson, and un
dertook to marry bur within a reasonable
time when requcitud to do so. The lady
states that she did entertain tho solicita

her. She alleges that tho defendant was,
in fact, married, and had a lawful wlfo
alive. "Which fact, she says, the defendant
know. For these reasons, she states, sno

attentions or otner men in viow ot mar
riage, having remained single up to the
present time.
