Hero the rivor continues riling mid dur

Itclow tlio MisaUiippi'li rising ilowly nnd
overy dny improve) tli) condition of tho
river. No rcfrhin; news from tho Mis
iluijipij: it itill remains Hocked up with ice
gorget of which thero is tit least three. At
Chester tho river remains frozen over and
between thero and tit. Louis there nro -more
ice gorget. Kithcr ono of them
would be enough to cauio navigation
to iuspnd. From tho Ohio river we
liuvo good news to report. Nothing hat
lon heard from the boats that left for
that part of the river j therefore, it is very
prubnblo thut the river is open to Evan-
villc. The river at l'itttburg remains
closed, but the prospects for it soon open
ing aro good. At Cincinnati tho river is
rising and likewiio at Louisville, and with
few more day it of sunshine navigation
will be resumed.
The riso in the Cumberlnnd has run
out and that stream is falling again and
in a fow days will bo as low us of old.
The Mississippi river is clear of ico be
tween this pluco and Cnpo Girardeau but
the condition of the chunncl is very bad
there being but little water In it. The ice
in the lmrbor ul St. Louis has been broken
up but does not float very far down the
river until it finds an ice gcrge. After a
couple of weeks of interruption, unrig,
tion will commence again between here
and Kvansville, tho river is rising at the
above place, and in a few dns the chan
nel will be In a fair stage.
HUilNEoi AND WBATIIKIl.
Uitinei it improving and every thing
bids fair for a busy ceuion. Thero were
cvpral boats loading for the touth.
Yesterday was rather a cold wind duy,
a sudden chungo in the atmosphere.
