girl's storv waa, every ono listened to it
with incredulity, so great was the respect
in tho community for Dr. Huton. Hut
now the atfair has leaked out, und it was a
chargo so culpable, especially on tho part
of the minister, that several members of the
Southern Methodist clergy were made cog
nizant of tho crime, and it wus agreed that
Dr. H ii! ton should be visited and made, if
possible, to vindicalo himself of the charg
es nnd sustain his reputation. So t com
mittee of Ave was speedily formed, con
sisting of clergymen partly and deacons in
Trinity churcn. They proceeded to the
house of Dr. Huston nnd laid the charges
beforo him, with nil tho details given v
tho uuiortunnto girl nnd many other small
points, lie appeared very much amazed,
und persistently declared his Innocence,
and upon tho matter being urged by tho
committee, ho took a IJIblo, and placing the

tho young Indies whom tho girl hnd tried

entirely cleared of any suspicions, and
their good names wero completely vindi

"Wednesday night for Ohio, taking his
fHtnily with him, nnd this too, it is said,
without explanation to any one. By nonio
it is contended that it wus dono at iho nd

say thnt such Is not the case, thnt the
Doctor felt insecure from tho gnnwing of

Tho ruined girl 19 represented as buing
