mother should conduct the funeral accord

posed of common red wood lumber, cov
ered with whlto velvet, and tho insido
trimmed with whlto silk. No ornaments

body was dressed similarly, In whlto
robes and whlto necktie, whito flowers
wero strewn about tho coilln. Tho room
in which tho body lay awaiting burial
was beautiful. Around tho wa.ll wero
whito rocs, and on a table at tho head of
tho coilln wot n largo vaso containing n
small rosebush. At tho baso of tho vafo
was n lull-blown rose, which had been
plucked from tho bush, and had fallen to
tho ground. It was emblematic of tho
young lile, so full of promise nnd beauty,
nipped in tho bud nnd Inllitig to decay ut
tho root. The services wcro conducted by
tho mother, who was dressed in white
alpaca, without ony trimmings or orna
ments. Tho ceremonies deeply Impressed
the spectator!, and wero opened by Mr.
Bench singing tho well-known poem
written by Sirs. O. Clark, tho medium,
entitled, " IIo'n Gone."
Thp mother then addressed tho assem
blage at somo loegth, extolling tho virtues
of her son, and adding that It was bis ex
pressed desire, both before; and after death,
tliHt ho should bo buried in that mnnner.
Mrs. Heacb then sang a poem entitled
" licBUtiful Hills," which she alleged had
been given to her by tomo departed friend.
Tho coffin was then placed in a hcarsoatid
borno to tho cemetery. At tho gravo tho
services consisted of n prayer bv Mrs.
licach. Mrs. Chaso says that slnco tho
death of her son she hits had several in
terviews with him. "While sho was pre
paring the corpse for burial ho appeared,
and said that " l.o did not think he would
mako such an ugly looking corpse," add
ing other jocular remarks. Sho contin
ued that during tho wholo process of dress
ing him after death ho was present in tho
room, and cut up antics, such as jumping
around tho room and standing on his hands.
