weeks' engagement at the Walnut Street
Theater, l'hiladelphin, and cum home,

Gcrmond, Gleitsmnn, of Kaltimorn. The
operation was performed by Dr. Reuling
on Thuriday, mid censitted in cutting out
a portion of tho Iris. It is said to ben
great succeis.
On Friday it was rebandaged and washed
with lukewarm water.
On Saturday he was allowed to try tho
eye. The doctor held up one and more
fingers. He could count lingers witli the
oro eye tlx feet otr, though tho room was
but dimly lichted bv a candle put behind
the bed." On Sunday night, when the
bandage was taken oil", it was found that
no matter had collected upon It, and that
the eyo was in excellent condition. The
light did not irritate it. He said to his 'on
gayly "I can count your cye-lathc.."
Although tho disease sometimes re-appear
In the other eye, it is not likely to do
so after so successful an operation". Mr.
Jefferson will have to wear n green thtde
for some weeks, and will not be allowed
to read for a fortnight at leal.
