ilULLKTIN PRINTING IIOUHB.
On several occoalon. mention has been
made In these columns of Tiik Bulletin,
of Improvements timdo front time to timo,
In Tin Uullktin ofllco, but no connected
details havo been given of tho various de
partments and the material which consti
tutes tho complete establishment.
The present seems an opportuno mo
ment in which to present theso details suc
cinctly, so tht thu public may form some
Idea, approaching accuracy, of " how it !
dono" in Tiir. Uullktin Printing
Uouio.
IN THE IlKAK
of the main building are located the News
Composing, Job and Steam Press Rooms,
THE COMPOSING ROOM,
in which many bands aro employed "at
caio"and "on tho forms," Is snug and
neat, well lighted and ventilated, and con
tain an immenso amount of printing ma
terial.
To this department wo have lately added
new type, and stands of tho latest patterns
THE J011 ROOM
is furnished with tho vory best material-
all the latest styles of Job Printing type,
borders, etc. We havo in use three
hundred fonts of type, and our facilities
for printing all kinds of largo Posters and
all other kinds of Job Printing from the
elaborate circular of many colors, to a
cent ballad, both in rerpect of stylo and in
price, are unequaled by any otllco in
Southern or Central Illinois. To this
large stock, new patterns aro constantly
being added. Six skilled mechanics aro
employed in this department, also un
der thu immediato supervision of
Mr. Samuel M. Dickson, a matter me
chanic a Job Printer whose good taste
and skill havo given him an envlablo rep
utation in his trade.
IN THE HOOK DEPARTMENT
we are prepared to print books of a thous
and pages or pamphlets of two, in typo
of any size, at prices in; competition with
thofe of tho larger cities of tho Eat and
Wct.
THE TREKS ROOM,
is in charge of Mr. L. Casiett, a thorough
and experieaced workman. Hero may be
seen our new Four-Roller Cottre'.l
anii Uaucock Drum Cylinder Press,
which cost where it stands 2-1,000 n preis
superior to tho celebrated II oe pres, and
on which the finest printing can bo done ;
alio, our half-medium Universal Press,
which is, we have no hesitation in saying,
tho belt bed and platen press manufac
tured in this oranyother country. Vt'o
have also in constant use the Gordon and
Degentr presses, all driven by a
TKX HORSE POWER ENOIXE,
built especially for The Hulletin, by
Messrs. Reed & Mann, und which has
given ui unqualified putiifnetion. . It is
Jutf the thing a thing of beauty and
works like n charm. To the building of
this engine Mr. Mann, who has grown
gray in his busincn and knows all about
It, gave his special attention, and we have
to thank him for a job wo have tested and
not found wanting in any particular.
The Boiler, Engine and Shafting were
put in place, and all the machinery of the
Press Room arranged and fitted up by
Messrs. ltennio it Co., the work being
done under the supervision of Mr. Charles
Slack, to whoie skill and Industry we are
under many obligations.
llt.VDERY.
In this department Mr. 1. C. Hueli, Into
of St. Louis Mo., is tho superintendent.
He is a thorough master of his business,
and, we venture to say has no superior in
the United States. It any doubt the as
sertion, wo recommend them to pay tho
bindery a visit, and they wil. be shown
specimens of hand gilt work for covers of
books, etc., of great bounty and elaborato
design, from the medlval style to that of
the most modern. It need, therefore, bo
hardly necessary to Bay, that all work In
this establishment for finish and durabil
ity cannot be excelled, and the prices
cannot bo competed with.
The machinery is all of tho very best
description, amongst which are a Ruling
machine, a Hickock standing press, a
Hoole Paging machine, a span new
Brom Se Carter card cutter, costing $250,
Table shear, and a complete set of finish
ing tools. All work warranted, of what
ever kind. Persona having magazines,
to be bound, old books rebound, or gildiug
in leather etc., etc., should bring thorn on
Immediately beforo the Fall rush.
IN CONCLUSION,
Wo havo built up In Cairo, from u
very small beginning, a Printing Estab

all their details, an cstablismont in which
every Egyptian should tako a pride. "Wo
ask no bonas to maintain us but wo
do ask that our people will givo to us a
liberal patronage. "Wo can d work at as

can be dono in St. Louis, Chicago or Cin
