On motion, the reading of tlio minutes
was dispensed with.
Tho reports of committees being next

To the Hon. Mayor and City Council of the City of

The undesigned, commlttceon streets,
to whom was referred a resolution to plve

city council, and containing various rec
ommendutions, reported as follows:

resolutions:
Resolved, That tho proper committee
orollluur be, and they are hereby In
structed to inline a bonk of blank licenses
to be prepared as follows:
Thu llueiisu to bu printed in such form
that three blanks will occupy one iaie,
of convenient slzo to be placed In tho
city safe.) that they bo so worded and
arranged that they will answer for any
characterof license, and for any adminis
tration; a proper space bclugdcslgimied
for thu signature of thu comptroller;
that uppotdto each license there hIiuII be
margin or stub, not less than 3J indies
wide, ruled ami headed so as to show n
true copy of thu license In a condensed
form, also th'i number of tho treasurer's
receipt upon which thu same has been
Issued. That tho blank ltconsei and
stubs bu numbered at the bindery, and
that 1000 of said blanks bo printed and'
bound either in one or two volumes.
Resolved, That they also cause to bo
prepared for the use of tho treasurer, a
booK of blank receipts, to be printed f on
a page, with margin orstub not ks than
:tj Inches, with ruling and heading to
show a cony of receipt aud tho purposes
for which It was Issued, said receipt to
bo numbered at tho bindery.
Resolved, That the finance committeo
aro hereby Instructed to havo made a
substantial tin box about 12 by 20 Inches
in size, and 6 in lilght, with two hasps,
and have tho sumo puiiited and lettered
"City of Cairo," aud also procure for
same two llrst class brass padlocks, with
different keys.
Resolved, That tho ordinance commit
tee bo Instructed to prepare, and report
without delay, such ordinances or
amendments to existing ordinances, as
shall require tho city clerk to use only
tho blanks from the license book, to bo
prepared according to the forogolng res
olutions, and requiring him, in all cases,
to till up the margin or stub with thu
number, date, character and amount of
license, to whom lssuod,and tho number
of the treasurers receipt upon which It
was Issued, and to account for each and
every blank delivered to him; that a
failure to comply witli these regulations
and produce tho treasurer's reoelpt for
each license itemed, shall subject him to
a lliieof $10 forencli otrunse;andprovidlug
for the preservation of defaced blanks by

then only the licenso of a corresponding
numbor with the number of tho said re
celpt.l' Carried; and the report as amend-
ed adopted.
The rules being suspended, tho follow
ing report of tho ordinance committee
was read, and on motion received:

bonds now on hand In the hands of tho
comptroller, and payable thirty years
from date and bearing Interest at six per
cent, per annum. Upon the order of the
mayor the comptroller shall deliver to
the treasurer of each one of the compa
nies named, each one thousand dollar
bonds of tho denomination abovo named,
anil" were stricken out, and after tho
words "Rough and Ready lire lo.,"
the following words were inserted,
"When tho order for tho abovo appropri
ation Is issued, tho clerk shall." Tho
ordinance was then laid over under the
rule for a socond reading.
Tim ordinance in reference to St. Ma-
ry's Park was read tho llrst time and laid
over under tho rule.
Alderman McKee offered the following
resolution, which, on motion, wns adopt
