A steady, nnd, at times, very heavy

Tho river hero commenced rising this
morning and has risen three inches.
Business continues fair, although tho
ralu interferes very mnch with tho
handling of freight.
The Mississippi is falling at St. Louis
and tho Missouri is represented as in
wretched -condition for stcamboatlng.
Tho presont rain will soon change this
stato of affairs.
Tho Ohio is rising at Pittsburg with
flvo feet wator, and a small fleet of coal
has left thero for Cincinnati and Louis
ville. The river Is rlelng a't Louisville,
with six feot in tho canal and four feet
over tho falls. Tho obstructions at tho
bridge over tho falls were- to bo removed
to-morrow or next day. Thero Is full
seven feet water below Kvansvlllc.
The Nick. Lougworth is coming out
with a full load, and will probably paes
hero this evening for N. 0.
Tho A. Baker brought out a good car
go for resbipmeut north and south.
The Evansvllle packets continue to
bring out good trips for rcshipment.
Tho present rise enabled the Quickstep,
Capt. Doxtor to resume her old place, and
sho is expected to learo hero for Evans
villa this evening.
The Great Republic nud Grand Era

tho Belle St. Louis for Memphis.
