Miss Sarah Mercer of Painted Woods school arrived OR No. 4 Snndav and drove to Mr.- Doyle's, where she is boarding. Mrs. Doyle's sister Is visitine her at this writing. Charley Rutherford was in Trenton Monday on business. Mr. Ernest Fewel has bought, a new team and is making arrangements to farm his ranch. Mr. Jerry Miles has his new house about finished and says there is just one thing lacking, which he hopes to have in the near f'lture, he will then be at home to his friends. ^ome of the people in Rose Center became frightened lest we should have an ice gorge. Thev watched on the hanks ot the river nntil the danger was passed and then returned to their homes on dry land. Mr. Thornton-and nephews are hew ing logs tor Mr. Thornton's house. 'A few of the homesteaders in Rose Center rained their houses and pnt them on siilts to be safe from high water and are prepared to entertain those who have not raised their houses in case the overflow should come yet. Ed Jacks irrigation canal is doing very successful work so far. We wish for him all' the success possible in the undertaking. Miss Peterson railed on Mrs. Ezell and daughter Montiy eve. R^v. W. J. Snow preached in Buford on lust Sunday. Mr. Callaway has bfeen quite sick the past week. Everyhodi is respectfully invited to attend EaNter services conducted by Rev. Mrs. Frank Bartcii is very successfully entertan ing the new visitor who arrived on the 28 h. Mr. Thornton, jr., of Painted Woods, has located a claim on said creek. Trenton is the possessor of a stray _rerry boat. It is caid it floated with the ice from Culxertson, Montana, The Trenton party mav rescue it and if it be in running order would tour the country on the other side of the river for a day. Carson and Thornton Carlisle of Italy, Texaa, Thompson and Charlie Peery, Marion Whitukbr and Charlie Ruther ford of Henry County, Mo., are guests of their uncle, W. P. Thornton. Carson Carlisle has his shHck com pleted and furnished. Charlie Peery is busy on his claim. Messrs. George and Marion Sim mons have pat in early gardens. Mrs. Ezell and daughters of Trenton visited Mrs. Joe Westhrook and Mrs. Frank Simmons last Saturday. Miss Betty Hereford is at home to her friends on her claim. Mrs. W. P. Thornton and Chailie Rutherford visited Mrs. W. J. Snow of Williston last Saturday. Mesdames Westhrook and Maud Sim mons took a drive to the river Saturday evening to see the ice float out. We know one thing and that is that Williston has one of the most accommo dating post masters and mistresses that we have seen for many a day. We hope Uncle Sam rewards them in a more substantial way than tbe grateful thanks of a multitude. Mr. Albert McAllister of Williston moved his family out to their home last week. All the men in this yalley began last Saturday at Mrs. Frank Simmon's to open a road on the section line to Trenton. Rev. W. J. Snow began his new work at Buford on the 5th inst. He will hold services at Painted Woods school house on the second Sunday, 12 inst. A-s he has been pastor to a large majority of' the people of this valley in other days, we expect a good audience. We think we have aright to be proud of our little yallev. Oiir neighbors are our associates and friends of Missouri, headed by our former pastor Rev. W. J. Snow.
