They were driving north on Main street §md were, just in the act of changing sides in the rig. Mr. Lyons was leaning for ward to let .Mr. Allen get over when the horse turned. This threw Lyons out and the horse turned so short that the buggy was upset. He then ran down the street and got onto the side walk in front of the Graphic of fice. The buggy struck a tele phone pole there and was badly smashed. The horse broke away from the rig and made down the side Walk on the gallop, keeping oi the walk until he past the Great Northern hotel. There wa» a large crowd of women and children in front of the hotel and they had to niake a fast move for the inside of the hotel to get out of the way of the horse. Luckily they escaped and no one was injured, the two men in the rig having escaped with a slight shaking. Pass ing through fhe different build ings the visitors had a chance to see the several hundred inmates, some working at different jobs and others sitting or walking around. It was a sad sight to see the hundreds ot people in that place and to realize why they were there .The visit was, in a way, a good lesson for those given the priveledge of passing through and should make them feel more like aiding in every way possible the work being carried on there by the state. They are Coming In one of the recent issues of the Williston Graphic it was an nounced that the city of Willis ton was expecting to have a first class concert to be given by the Luther College Band, Glee Club and famous soloists of Decorah, Iowa. Arrangements have al ready been made and the con cert will be given at the Opera house Sunday evening, August 5th. judging by the reports from the places they have al ready appeared at, the people of Williston and vicinity can feel assured that this will be a first class concert. Because of the rather limited time these musical forces have been obliged to reject many invi tations received from several im portant cities along the road to the west coast. 3 It will probably take many years before we will have anoth er musical treat like this .and it is therefore tobe hoped that the people will not miss this excel lent opportunity and meet up in full force at the Opera house August 5. The band consists of 46 mem bers and is under the leadership of Prof. C.'Speratis, who is well known throughout the whole north west both as a musician and director. v-V- Tv If t.
