V11 (j There is getting to be consider able inquiry for pure seed wheat of the macaroni variety. A large number of our fanner friends are going to devote their entire wheat acreage to the cultivation of macaroni the coming season, be lieving it to be a good thing, and, as such, cannot be kept down by the combined craftiness of the milling and elevator inte rests.—Bowbells Tribune. I"' In another column of the In dependent is a list of the mer chants of Minot who have agreed On an early closing hour. This is certainly a matter of congrat ulation. It will afford leisure to merchants and employers which they can have as well as not dur ing this tithe of the year. And the general public can easily ac comodate themselves to the new arrangement. Minot is only ioljowing the example of other cities and wide-a-wake towns, Who regularly adopt thjsplan as soon as the holiday trade is over. There has been complaint that the early clossin hour has not been observed by every merchant in other winters when the plan has been trsed, that some have forgotten that theti signature was given to a written agree ment and could not honorably be broken. It is certainly to be hoped that there will be no such violation this winter and, should it occur, that merchants will not make it an excuse to open their stores but wait until the offender meets the just deserts of the pub lic—who want to see fair play— and believe theearly closing hour is for the best interests of the city.
