I School Notes. The Teacher's Training school, held at Minot for Ward and Mc Henry counties, closed last Fri day after three weeks of very suc cessful work. Two hundred and sixty-three teachers enrolled, of which sixty remained during the entire session and took the com pletion examination at the close. In addition to the regular class work several entertaining and in structive lectures were delivered by local speakers, as well as state lecturers. Herbert Blair, who recently re turned from a tour of Europe, delivered a very interesting lec ture on geography and nature study and explained the meth ods of presenting these subjects in Germany and other parts of the world. "The Latent Power of Man," as enlarged upon by Professor A. J. Ladd, was well received and appreciated by the teachers. Supt. W. L. Stockwell address ed the Summer School in his us ual concise and convincing man ner. Among the other speakers were Rev. McMullan, Joseph De vine, Rev. Flint, Rev. Powell and Miss Linum, a missionary re cently returned from China. As a fitting close to three weeks of mental activity, a re ception was given the teachers by the County Superintendents of the two counties represented in the summer school. A pleas and evening was spent in becom ing better acquainted and in the enjoyment of a musical and lit erary program. Ross school district is adver tising for bids for a four room •school house. Hetrick as prin cipal for the ensuiag year. O O A am at school supply man, who had his preliminary hearing and was bound over to the district court under $1000 bonds, has taken a -change of venue to Ramsey county. He and his attorneys evidently intend to tire out the prosecution if possible but, for the general good of the school districts and the county, the di rectors who have been hood winked wiil follow Mr. Adams until he is forced to seek other fields ©f operation. The next teachers' examina tion will be held on the 24th and :25th of this month at Minot and Bowbells. The movement started by the Woman's Club of this city toward the development and final build ing of a Y. M. C. A. building is in every way commendable. Mi not is in great need of such an institution. While the Indepen dent is glad to see churches erect ed, still the matter would not be complete at all if we did not have in connection with them a good, well-managed Y. M. C. A. build ing. Very few cities, in fact not in this state, have so many young men without homes as has Minot, and they have no place to go other than perhaps the pool rooms, etc., where they can spend their evenings. For this reason and many others every earnest, thoughtful citizen should help in every way he can to support the movement to get as early as pos sible a good building. DENTISTS. Dr. W. J.
