He has a large patch of them. He also has an acre of onions that look well. He will likely get three or four hundred hushels of onions from the acre. The Blaisdell Eagle, the latest newspaper venture in Ward coun ty, has made its appearauce. The paper is printed by the Pal mero Publishing Co. and is filled with spicy news and good live advertising matter. Blaisdell is located thirty-seven miles west of Minot on the G. N. and is one of the coming towns. A. plant for the new paper has been ordered. Owen Hecker, who built a bridge across Mouse River at Hecker, at a cost of $1062.20, turned the bridge over to the county Wednesday, receiving $456 for the same. J. W. Samuelson, the boot and shoe dealer, started for Milwau kee last Saturday night to visit the city and purchase his winter stock of goods from the Mayer Shoe Co., located in that famous city of Gunds & Blatz. Deputy Sheriff Ed Kelley chased a crazy man, Bert Egge from Bye, thru the hills to Ber thold, this week, but did not cap ture him. Egge had broken up his brother's dishes and threat ened to kill him. W. J. Wells of the Rogers Lumber Co., reached his hand in his pocket in front of the Bon Ton Wednesday and when he pulled it out $55 in bills came out also and at this writing no trace of them has been found. Dr. Harry Ritchie of Deering, is very ill of typhoid fever and his father, a prominent Indiana physician, is attending himi Dr. Ritchie continued to make calls on patients for two weeks after he first felt the effects of the at tack. His condition is serious. L. L. Safford, a prominent young business man of Tasker, in company with his brother, purchased a drug store atGrano and hereafter will be in the gold mining business, or practically the same thing. Dr. M. H. Scholberg was elect ed secretary of the Ward County Republican Central Committee at the meeting of the delegates in this city Thursday night. Like Vic Rose, the popular doc tor had a run for his Firs Liihtiiii Tomtit money, Tim Murphy from Mohall being in the race to wm if possible. The doctor will make a good sec retary. We are glad to see the honor ^o to a Minot man, for Minot is logically speaking, the place for this office anyway. The secretary of a Republican organ ization in a county the size of Ward has a great deal of work to do, and Dr. Scholberg has a capacity for work. Why does the sun burn? Why does a mosquito sting? Last Saturday a friends from this city party of and Burl ington were delightfully enter tained at dinner by Mr. and Mrs. Wilson at their beautiful farm home north of Burlington. The table was artistically decorated with festoons of pink and green ribbon caught up at each place with a bouquet of pink sweet peas. The guests found their places at the table by elegant hand painted place cards, each bearing a cleverly written poem descriptive of the one whose name it bore. The dinner was most elaborate and delicious and was highly appreciated by the guests after their long drive through the beautiful Mouse River Valley. Those present were Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Powell, Mrs. C. B. Bach, Mrs. J. T. Rush, Mrs. J. G. Moore of this city, and Mrs. W. L. Millar, Miss Margaret Miller, and Miss Greer of Burl ington. The afternoon was spent in social conversation and music, after which the guests left for their homes voting Mrs. Wil son and her charming daugh ters, ideal hostesses. Olander have secured a patent on a holder for a cigar box cover. The inven tion is a dandy and will take well. A. C. Olander is now in Chi cago arranging for the manufac ture of the holders. Mrs. Rose Zook returned from California with her sister who is very ill of tuberculosis. After spending a few weeks in Minot in a tent without any benefit to the sick woman, Miss Anna Dill,they left for Fultou, Ind., the old home. The father of Orpha (Crow) Barrington, Will Crow and Mrs. Nellie Crow Tracy died at What Cheer, Iowa, after a lingering ill ness. The members of the the atrical company just returned from that city where the funeral was held. The report started by some busy body to the effect that the Independent is dguring on sell ing out is entirely without foun dation. This paper never before had so good a business and there would be no reason at this time why we should want to sell. Don't believe anything that vou hear nowadays and only naif what you see.
