Holcomb from Minot is making his children a visit on North Prairie before cold weather comes as Mr. Halcomb is now quite recover ed from his sick spell. Abraham has been circulating a petition to raise money with which to erect a new church for the Ger man Lutherans in this City. Quite a large sum has already been raised and the new structure is an assured thing. A New Swedish Church. Nels Tufueson, one of Minot's wealthy property owners, has donat ed a lot not far from where the new bridge will span the Mouse river, and upon it work will start at once. The building committee is composed of John Wallin, J. W. Samuelson, Nels Tufeufson and the pastor of the church, Rev. Alex. Peterson. The church will be 38x50 and the basement only will be completed this winter. The structure will be of brick and will be a very handsome one. Elect Chapter. Officers. The first meeting of the Tyrlan Chapter, No. 14, A. P. and A M. was held in the new Temple Wednesday night of last week, when the follow ing officers were elected for the en suing year: C. P. Traux, High Priest. W. W. Horton, King. Fred Almy, Scribe. A. D. Hagenstein, Secretary. G. D. Colccrd, Treasurer. The meeting was held in the drill hall of the commandery. Clark is Guilty. Frank Clark, the water man., who struck Wm. Sanies, a rival over the head with a pump handle, was found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon in District court and is now in jail awaiting sentence. Clark is possessed of a violent temper, and when he found Staples delivering Water the home of one of his old custom* s, lie drove in and began to smash him over the head with a pump handle. Staples was badly used up. Clark will linely get. a penitentiary sentence. Clark was out on bail, and was or dered to report at nine o'clock Thurs day morning at the court room, but did not get around until eleven. This led to a report that he had jumped his bonds. Couldn't Find Any Lice. Dec. 4, 1907. To the Editor of the Ward County Independent: Minot, N. D. After reading the article on "Life in the Ward County Jail," in the is suj of November 28th, 1907, we made a personal inspection of the jail and talked with the prisoners relative to matters contained In the article, and as a result of such inspection we find that there is no complaint made by any of the prisoners on the man agement of the jail and that there Is no vermin in the jail, nor were we able to find anyone who claimed that there were any lice in the jail what ever. Warden Hellstrom will partially do away with stripes at the state pen. Convicts will be graded according to the character of their crimes. The first grade men will be fitted with ra ther a blue gray uniform. The sec ond grade with the same kind of a uniform, except their suits will be trimmed with a black stripe, while the third grade birds will wear the old style stripes. Olsen and Miss Grace Mon roe were married at the residence of the groom, Mr. J. S. Olsen, on Wed nesday, Dec. 4. Rev. Mr. Aishem offi ciattd in his impressive and admir able style so characteristic of that noble gentleman. Miss Nora Olson and Mr. Stephen Olson, sister and brother to the groom acted as brides maid and best man. A large number of relatives and friends from their neighborhood, Ryder and Minot, were present. The occasion was a festi val as a good time in the most edible dainties, and merriment in dancing and music. The newly wedded will make their home in Ryder where Mr. Olson will engage in the mercantile business with his brother, Stephen Olson, who is one of the pioneer mer chants and biggest dealer of that growing and prosperous town.
