He expects to locate in the east, in the vicinity of his home, Syracuse, N. Y. Mr. Dence has been with us two years and during that time ho has taken great interest in athletics of the school. He is a good man and a is place will be hard to fill. 'Dad" Smith, who has traveled for the .American Type Founders Co., ol Minneapolis, thru the northwest for a good many years, has resigned, as he has accepted a ^position with the Dunham Cost System Co., of Cleve land, Ohio. The printeiies of the state will b^ sorry to lose "l)ad'' ^mitli, and the American will have a harcf time to find a man to step into his shoes. Mrs. L. T. Larson took pity on ye editor, no doubt, for she presented us with two fine dressed tame ducks. As long as kind generous friends raise ducks, it matters little to us whether we have recipr^ity with Canada or not. Whatever the condition of Mouse river may be at Logan, the city supply is as nearly pure as it is possible to make it. The latest report shows that the water Is 98.8 per cent pure and there is an entire absence of colon bacilli. John MoAfee, the gentlemanly re presentative of the John Leslie Paper company visited Minot the first of the week. Mr-. .McAfee has invested some money in an oat meal mill, being in terested in the concern with his two brothers and if the venture pans out well, which it very likely will, John will spend his future years in clipping coupons and enjoying life in general. Minot will probably have no paid ball team this year, at least we have not been able to locate the man who is willing to back up such a proposi tion. In years past, the backers of our base ball teams have gone In the hole from several hundred to several thousand dollars a year, and you can't blame tbe business men from think ing twice or three times, before tak ing hold of the proposition. We are fortunate in having the K. C. and the Great Northern teams, which promise to be strong ones. Rev. B. S. Shaw of Minot, will act as floor manager at the Devils Lake Chautauqua this season. The initial number of the Foxholm Leader has reached our deak. It is really surprising what liberal patron age Editor Meyer has received, for his paper appears prosperous. The Foxholm merchants area "bunch" of live ones and if they will stand by the editor, we know that he will s'.ve them their money's worth. Word received from Lewis Egan, of Marshall, Mo., formerly of this city, reports that he is the proud father of a fine young Mlssourlan, a nine & yvVy Those wanting large quantities Our Formaldehyde AUTOMOBILE I E N E S POISON 50 cents per can get a rock-bottam price by is guaranteed to be |lUI calling. Mr. Green turned the first furrow in that country and during the early days it was necessary for him to drive to Mi not 30 miles to get his plow lays sharpened. He has disposed of his farm and next fall will move to Wis consin, where he will buy a small farm and engage in truck farming. F. L. Wilson, the Newport farmer, spent a few days in Minot this week. Mr. Wilson has been tanned most beautifully by the prairie winds and seems to be enjoying farm life. Jessie Joiner, who has land at Ber thold passed thru Minot Tuesday en route to that place from Castor, Alta., where is also a land owner. He re ports little farming done across the line. Aug.
