A great number of hunters were out in the hills Saturday and Sunday. One man had his eye shot out while hunt ing. Wm. Carpenter went to the Magic City Saturday. Mrs. D. N. Stevick was a Oes Lacs visitor Monday. The Stevick boys started threshing Tuesday. Miss Emeline Johnson visited with home folks over Sunday. Mrs. R. L. Veach from Des Lacs visited her daughter, Mrs. Breslin, Sunday. Mr. Johnson, Mr. Rustad, Miss Han son, Miss Dugan brought Mr. C. Skul rud out in the hills Monday evening. Mrs. J. Jones and children visited I with Mrs. Watson Sunday, Everyone enjoyed the masquerade •dance at Halligan's Tuesday evening, altho the rain caused many to stay at I home and very few masked. At a late hour a splendid supper was served af ter which they were entertained by some good singing. May me Farris is on the sick list this week. Wistrom, the Flaxton drug grist, spent Sunday with relatives and friends here, returning to Flaxton on jthe early train Monday. -u I Miss Schindeldecker of Minneapolis 'was a guest at the Charles Wistrom home several days last week. Mesdames Lanpher and Pedlar ac 'companied their husbands on a duck hunting expedition Sunday. Chas. Parsley, formerly of the Op era barber shop in Minot, has estab lished a barber shop here. He runs the pool hall in connection with the shop and handles cigars, tobaccos and soft drinks. Mr. Parsley is a first class barber and we are pleased to learn that his patronage is far better than he was led to expect. Robt. Taylor, an experienced butch er, has been engaged by Jacobson Bros, as assistant in the City Meat Market. Mrs. E. A. Madsen left Tuesday of last week for a few weeks' visit at her old home iri Minnesota. Messrs. Jourgen Olson, John Wer ner and Leo Olson have formed a company for the purchase of grain and to deal in farming implements. The new firm has purchased the H. T. Hogy elevator. Leo Olson will do the buying, which is a guarantee of a square deal to everyone. Burlington {is fortunate in having two such com panics. I Miss Mary Muyres of Chaska, Minn., is visiting at the John Reutten home. F. W. Bendush, the Minot contrac j.tor, has begun the erection of the township hall. The town was nearly depopulated Sunday. Everybody has gone to the hills after the festive duck. Andrew Lazarus was accidentally shot by his son while hunting ducks in the nills Sunday. One of the shots penetrated his eye. He was taken to the hospital at Minot immediately af ter the accident. We have not learn ed the exact particulars regarding his injuries but nope they will not result seriously. School began Monday with a large attendance. H. T. Hogy and family left for Mon tana last week. They will reside in Joplin for a few months at least and then return to their home here for the winter. Jap Marries White Girl. So Mutsomoto, aged 30, who hails ifrom Williston, and Clara C. Corkin, aged 30, who says that Kenmare is her home, were married Friday morn ing at the court house by Judge Mur ray. The woman seemed perfectly happy in getting the Jap for her spouse. The husband took his bride to Williston, where he is engaged in business. I Deputy Dan Dougherty is said to have acted as best man at the wed ding. Two Nabbed for Pigging* Joe Cotea and Geo. Hayes, living at 421 Victoria street, were arrested Thursday charged with pigging, Of ficers McGregor and Robinson makin the arrests. The police found pints of whiskey in the house.
