Vll ilf'-sV« One-Egg Muffins cups flour' 2 slightly rounded tea spooryula Baking Powder 1 tea spoonful salt cup sugar cup melted cutter or lard 1 egg leupwater ormilk. Sift dry ingredients together three times. Add to this the unbeaten egg, melted shortening and water or milk. Then beat all together until perfectly smooth. Oil muffin or gem pans and have oven slow until the muffins come to the top of the pan, thea increase the heat to bake a and brown the muffins. This recipe makes 12 large muffins. Charles Mitchell, a Regent farmer, was found dead in his house by neigh bors .Wednesday morning. He was last seen Saturday night. Two horses were found dead in the barn. They had evidently gotten into the oats and foundered. It is believed the owner over exerted, himself trying to save them, dying from an attack of heart trouble. He was lying on his bed, fully dressed. Hurled Rock Thru Riverside Window. Late Sunday night, someone, evi dently bent on robbery, threw an im mense chunk of concrete thru one of the large plate glass windows at the Riverside Grocery Store, owned by Bettin Bros.. & Marshall. Jud Wood, owner of the confectionery store next door, heard the crash and an effort was made to locate the miscreants, but they got away. The first general killing frost of the season occurred Monday ni^ht, Oct. 12. This is a remarkable showing for this eountry. Up until that time, many of the later vegetables have been thriv ing in our gardens. "Jim Hill" Up for Vagrancy. Eight colored residents of the city were arrested Sunday night and plac ed in the city bastile. They appeared before Judge Lynch Monday evening and were held to county court under $250. As they-were a trifle shy of the amount, they are boarding with Sher iff Kelley. One of the colored gentle men is known as "Jim Hill," but he does not claim any relationship to the raliroad magnate. An exchange thinks he has .missed his calling— ought to be a blacksmith. Carl Nelson, of the Cando Record, deputy income tax collector, lost his overcoat at Carrington and "Jawn" Charmley thinks he's lucky that the thief didn't take his shirt and pants. Elbridge Uhlman of Williston, was shot in the back of the head while hunting in company with two young hunters, and died. He was training a dog -when one of his companions shot him accidentally. Joe Wegley of Williston raised 2700 bushels of fine potatoes on ten acres. He used in digging them a four horse Hoover digger, three wagons, ei^ht pickers and two checkers, harvesting 1280 bushels in one day. In a missionary report published the Williston Herald, the printer made Rev. W. K. Bloom's article read, "Pro hibition Does Not Prohibit."
