I believe in a commercial organization because it serves a two fold purpose. First, because it supplies the point of contact, where the in-. dividual seeking a home, the business concern or corporation look ing for a location, can get all information desired. This is no longer an experiment, but a demonstrated fact in hundreds of cities. The fact that people have been taught to go to such or ganizations makes it necessary to have it. There is no other one place where they can secure the information they want. Second, because it is of vast benefit to its citizens, by making surveys of local conditions, civic, educational, religious and eco nomic, to say nothing of the benefits derived in the matter of ad justing unfavorable freight rates assistance in the matter of bet ter and more ample housing conditions conducting campaigns to secure citizens for the city and settlers for the surrounding farms advertising the advantages of the city bringing in desirable con ventions with their attendant business and advertising features, and a thousand and one other benefits too numerous to mention. Lastly, I can conceive of no reason why any city that is alive and progressive, should not have a source of information and head quarters for visitors and home people, such as is furnished by an Association of Commerce. .Very truly yours, Mr. Will E. Holbein, Association of Commerce, Minot, N. Dak. Dear Sir: We believe the Association of Commerce to be a good thing for Minot for many reasons. If the boosting to be done was left to individuals, no one would have time. If it were left to individuals to look up jobbers, manufacturers and other business men with an object in view of having them locate in Minot, there would be very little of this work done. Dakota is a busy state and most business and professional men are too busy with their own affairs to do very much for the city, therefore I believe it absolutely necessary that an organiza tion be maintained for this purpose. The Association of Commerce has done good work and I be lieve this is generally known to members of the organization who have been in touch with it to any great extent. If all citizens would co-operate with the organization and help them, there is no question but what greater benefits would result and more good would be accomplished, ,v Yours very truly, f) Cfl inal and entertaining.
