The Board of County Commissioners of Ward County, North Dakota, met at 2 o'clock p. m., April 2nd, 1917, in the of fice of the County Auditor. Members present: Third District, J. M. Rohe Fourth District, John Hennessy Fifth District, Olaf Lokensgard Com. Vanden oever from the First District Com. Pow ell from the second district. Com. Rohe In the chair. Moved by Com. Lokensgard, seconded by Com. Hennessy that the bond of R. W. Kennard, County Auditor of Ward County, No. 504,677-17 in the amount of ten thousand dollars with the U. S. Fi delity & Guaranty Co., of Baltimore, Maryland, as surety, be accepted and approved and placed on file. R. W. Ken nard having filed his bond, took his oath of office and assumed general charge of the duties of County Auditor. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Hennessy, seconded by Com. Powell that the board proceed to audit and allow bills. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Powell, seconded by Com. Hennessy that the deed for Right of Way across part of section 11, in township 154, range 86, given by C. J. Haas to Ward County. North Dakota, be accepted and approved and the County Auditor Instructed to have same record ed. Motion carried. The Board discussed ways and means of Road Improvement. Moved by Com. Lokensgard, seconded by Com. Hennessy that two thousand dollars shall be set aside from the Coun ty Road Fund for the second commis sioner's district, two thousand dollars for the Third commissioner's district, two thousand dollars for the Fourth Commissioner's district, and two thous and Dollars for the Fifth Com missioner's district, money to be used for Turnpiking main roads running through different townships with the County Graders, with the understanding that no money shall be used for turn piking in townships that are not -willing to pay half the expense of the turnpik ing. r% It should be left with the Commission "Anything You Need to Build With" Kodaks jfc. Rohe in the chair with all members present. The delegation from Ryder appeared before the Board in regard to a road across the hills to connect Ryder with Mlnot. A The Board adjourned at 10 clock to attend a mother's pension hearing in County Court and at 10:30 o'clock re convened to again confer with the Ryder delegation. The Board proceeded to audit and al low bills and at 12 o'clock adjourned to meet again at 2 o'clock P. M. Afternoon Session, The Board met at 2 o'clock P. M. as per adjournment. Com. Vandenoever, that the Board proceed to open the bids. Motion car ried. Moved by Com. Hennessy, seconded by Com. Lokensgard, that the bid of the Grand Forks Herald Co., for blank and record books be accepted, said bid being the lowest and best submitted, and the chairman Is hereby authorized to sign contract for same. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Hennessy, seconded by Com. Powell that the checks of the un successful bidders for blank and record books be returned. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Lokensgard, seconded by Com. Vandenoever that the bid of Thatcher-Wysong Co., for furnishing Ward County with stationery, office sup plies and legal blanks at twenty per cent above cost be accepted, said bid being the lowest and best submitted.
