It took the jury at Bismarck only .'50 minutes to find Mrs. O'Haro guilty of interfering and attempting to ob struct the recruiting and enlisting service in the United States army. Anna Skeie of Upham, was arrest ed last week on a charge of giving in toxicating liquors to minors. At the preliminary hearing she was bound over to the district court. Deering held a public reception in honor of Lieut. Howard Huston, a young man of that village who hud been commissioned at the Second Offi cers School at Fort Snelling. Thi Grand Forks commercial club has decided to give financial backing to the proposed visit to North Dakota of the Camp Dodge military band. A tour of North and South Dakota is proposed by the band in January. New coal mines are being opened up all along the Northern l'acilic as a result of the coal shortage. North Dakota people will be compelled to use lignite coal if the present condi tions continue. The second week of January has been named by the State Food com mittee as "Efficiency Week" during "which time all social and civic clubs of the state will be asked to set aside social affairs for the discussion of food conservation. A. D. Reid, formerly of Marmarth, now residing in Oregon, will soon be brought to Marmarth to answer to the charge oT passing a worthless check for $f0. His accomplice is a thirteen year-old daughter. He has also pass ed worthless chocks at other places. Posing as a Moose he would get a fellow member to endorse his check. Thr famous Hebron wine case, in which a party of citizens were charged with illegally shipping a carload of wine which has for almost two years aged in the cellars of the Morton county court house, was kicked out of the United States court yesterday when U. S. District Attorney Hildrcth, for the prosecution, moved for a dis missal after the trial of Philip Bender, alleged agent in the case, had begun. A terrible accident occurred last Thursday night at about S o'clock when Brily Douglas, or near Carlyle, one of the pioneer settlers of the Golden Valley, had his skull crushed in and brains dashed out when his Ford car, driven by his son, Fred, struck the back end of a load of lum ber at a shorp hill one and a half miles north of Carlyle, resulting in his death three hours later.
