h1: V- CARPIO ITEMS Born to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mc Kinzee, a fine baby boy, on June 4th. It lived but a short time and passed out. The funeral services were held at the house Monday at 2:00 P. M. and interment made in_ the home cemetery, Rev. Vogt officiating. Wednesday, June 7th, the Non partisan League held a meeting and picnic at Carpio. A large crowd was present but on account of the cool and cloudy day, ice cream and lemon ade was not anxiously sought for. A baseball game between the north and south side was played just after din ner and after tha game two men from Bismarck delivered speeches. The Silver band from Norma favored the occasion with many fine selections. There was a dance in the evening in the old Woodman hall. The band fur nished the music. On Friday, the Johnson school west of Carpio held a picnic in the coulee grove. Music and games and singing and a general social time was had. In the evening the Hartland -High School held their graduating exer cises, showing the high efficiency of their teachers and the fine advance ment of the pupils in many excellent recitations and exercises. Gus Ebbert's Overland Sedan Total Loss by Fire Gus Ebbert lost his Overland Sedan by fire early Sunday morning, the loss being practically complete. He car ried no insurance. The car was two years old. Mr. Ebbert had placed the auto in his garage in this city and it is be lieved that the blaze was caused by the wire connection. The flames spread to the gasoline tank which ex ploded. The garage caught fire, and a hole was burned thru the roof. A neighbor saw the blaze and turned in the alarm, the fire department saying the garage from completely burning. Minot Would Entertain G. A. R. of North Dakota J. D. White, Commander of Abra ham Lincoln Post, G. A. R., left Tuesday for Wahpeton to attend the state encampment. Mr. White took •with him an invitation from the As sociation of Commerce for the G. A. R. to hold their 1923 encampment in this city. It has been seven years since a similar gathering was held here and at this rate, if Minot is chosen, this city will probably never again have the opportunity of enter taining the North Dakota old soldiers, their ranks are diminishing so rapid ly. Annual meeting of Stockholders of the South Prairie Farmers Telephone Co. will be held at usual place on Saturday, June 24th, at 1:30 P. M. Everybody come. tl* Theo. H. Elarth, Sec. Mrs. N. Bruels of this city, who has been receiving treatment at Rochester, Min., for several weeks for cancer, is growing weaker and there is no hope for her recovery. A daughter, Mrs. Jos.
