The Board of County Commissioners of Ward County met as per adjourn ment, at 2 o'clock P. M., on August 22nd, 1922, with the following members present: Commissioners Vandenoever, Toftner, Splcher. Haldi and Krantz. Com. Krantz in the chair. It was moved by Com. Vandenoever, seconded bv Com. Haldi that the board proceed to audit bills. Motion carried. The Board spent the afternoon audit ing bills, and at 5 o'clock it was moved by Com. Haldi, seconded by Com. Van denoever, that the board adjourn until 9 o'clock A. M., August 23rd. Motion carried. it August 83rd, 1922 The Board met at 9 o'olock A. M., as per adjournment, with all members present and Com. Krantz in the chair. Moved by Com. Haldi, seconded by Com. Splcher, that the report of A. P. Scofleld, sheriff, for services rendered in civil actions during the month of July, 1912, showing collection of 1291.50. Also report of J. Engeseth, Register of Deeds, for the month of July, 1922, showing collection of $601.50, be accept ed, approved and placed on file. Motlin carried. the months of June and July, 1922, IVa r*. the amount of 1809.92, be accepted, ap proved and placed on file. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Haldi, seconded by Com. Vandenoever that the resolution passed by this Board on the 4th day of August, 1922, authorizing the payment to the Great Northern Railway Com pany, the sum of $2,665.00 by the Ward County Fair Association, for the build ing of a spur track into the Fair Grounds, be amended to read $1,914.00, owing to the fact that the Ward Coun ty Fair Association has agreed to take over the grading of the spur for $751.00, on account of the inability of the Great Northern Railway Co., to construct the grade, for use during the 1922 Fair. On roll call the members voted as follows: Com. Vandenoever, yes. Com. Toftner, yes. Com. Spicher, yes. Com. Haldi, yes. Com. Krantz, yes. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Vandenoever, second ed by Com. Haldi, that we adjourn un til 2 o'clock P. M. Motion carried. Afternoon Session, Aug. 23rd The Board met at 2 P. M., as per ad journment, with all members present and Com. Krantz in the chair. Moved by Com. Spicher, seconded by Com. Toftner, that the following reso lution be accepted, approved and a copy be sent the State. Highway Commis sion WHEREAS, on the 9th day of April, 1919, the Board of County Commission ers of Ward County, N. Dak., passed a resolution designating the following road as a State Highway: Beginning in the Northeast corner of Section 16, Township 151, Range 83, and running west 9 miles, thence north 1 mile, thence west 15 miles, thence north 2 miles, thence west S miles to the county lino at the Northwest corner of Section 31, Township 152, Range 87, and WHEREAS, it has since been found feasible and practicable to build the State Highway to the following de scription: Beginning at the Northeast corner of Section 9, Township 151, Range 83, and running west 21 miles, thence' north 2 miles-and west 3 miles to the county line at the Northwest cor ner of Section 31, Township 152, Range S7, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE SOLVED, that the County Commission ers hereby petition the State Highway Commission ,at Bismarck, N. Dak., to make this change in designation ol' said highway, and further request proper at tention be given this at once and a survey of 12 miles beginning at the Northeast corner Section 9, Township 151, Range 85, running west, be made this year, 1922. It is agreed that the county- will, at the request of the State Highway Com mission, secure title' to such right of way as may be found necessary. On roll call the members voted as fol lows: Com. Vandenoever that the following resolution be accepted, approved and placed on file: WHEREAS, L. J. Palda, Jr., attorney of Minot, representing the Donnybrook .State Batik, has made application to Ward County for abatement of penalty and interest on personal property, capi tal stock and undivided profits of the Donnybrook State Bank, for the year 1920, for "the reason that said bank is now in the hands of a receiver. NOW, THEREFORE, the county audi tor is hereby instructed to causo satis faction of said taxes upon the payment of the original amount. On roll call the members voted as follows. Com. Vandenoever, yes. Com. Toftner, yes. Com. Splcher, yes. Com. Haldi, yes. Com. Krantz, yes. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Toftner, seconded by Com. Haldi that the following policies with the State Fire & Tornado Fund, of Bismarck, N. Dak., on. the Ward County Fair property, be acceped, approved and placed "on file: Polciy No. 2164 on the Grand Stand, for lire insurance, $8,400, premium, $330.00 tornado insurance, $8,400, premium", $17.64. Also policy No. 2165, on the Exhibi tion Building, for fire insurance, $11,600, premium, $456.00, tornado insurance, $11,600, premium, $24.36. Also policy No. 2166, on the Stock Barn, for fire insurance, $6,500, prem ium $150.00 tornado insurance, $6,560, premium $13.77, and the auditor is hereby instructed to issue warrants to the amounts as stated above. M., as per adjournment, with all members present and'Com. Krantz in the chair. It was moved- by Com. Haldi, second ed by Com. Vandenoever, that the fol lowing resolution.be accepted, approved and placed on file: WHEREAS, there Is on record in the Register of Deeds office of Ward Coun ty, orth Nakota, many seed and feed grain liens, which are still unpaid, -and a3 i,JjijjjijtBffttrliJTiliijTT 11 SOAXD or especially of the 1918 issue, and WHEREAS, this issue has been of five years' duration, and the bonds will become due November 1st, 1922, und WHEREAS, it will be necessary for Ward County to make a special effort to collect these liens in order to meet the payment of these bonds, and WHEREAS, the Board of County Com missioners has engaged Fred V. Dale, Deputy Sheriff of Ward County, Mlnot, N. Dak., to assist Ward County in the collection thereof. Herigstad, State's Attorney, for 3,000 letter heads. Motion carried. Moved by Coin. Toftner, seconded by Com. Vandenoever that A. G. Burgeson, of Douglas, be appointed appraiser of stock taken up on the 9th day of June, 1921, by Peter Sandwick, and the audi tor is instructed to notify Mr. Burge son of such appointment. Motion carried. Moved by Com. Haldi, seconded by Com. Vandenoever that the coroner's re port of C. B. Davis, acting coroner, of an inquest held upon the dead body of F. R. Purdy, on the 15 th, 17tli and 18th day of July. 1922, be accepted, approved and placed on file, and the auditor in structed to issue warrants due wit nesses on fees according to law. accepted, approved and placed on file and the auditor instructed to have same recorded in the Register of Deeds of fice of Ward County, and issue warrant to John Ortmann for $155.00 in payment ol' same.
