SUMMER IS A TRYING
TIME FOR CINCIN
NATI CAR MEN
(Continued from page 1)
not have a tendency to make a man
smile or look pleasant. Safety for the
passengers, safety for the company's
property, always are uppermost in his
mind. Hut strange to say, no one ccr
seems to think of safety for the street
car man. Seven days a week he must
toil (and F wish to impress upon your
mind that they are long days). ITc has
no lime for study or recreation lie
must get what little sleep he can in
order that he can meet nature's require
ments in order to perfotm his duties to
nioirow Remember it is hard work to
smile and look pleasant when it is all
hard work and no pleasuie. This is the
life of the street car man. Give him a
smile and a good word if ou can spare
them, so that he can say, "Well, my life
really had a little sunshine in it after
all."

to destroy trades unionism.
Several months ago the com
pany declared for the non
union shop. A strike resulted,
followed by the suit for dam
ages. International olliccrs of
the mine workers were includ
ed. Attorneys for the work
ers asked Judge Voiimaus of . .
the United States district court -
to dismiss the suit on Hie ;;
ground that the ownership, '.'.

The judge sustained this

the principles of the Clayton
