this morning had just $5 left They had
spent their money on the way from
their, home before arriving in El Paso
Monday, and after securing a room In
the .Wellington hotel on Stanton street,
had fitted the room up with photographs
and postal pictures like their rooms at
home. They had registered under the
names of Bessie and Margaret Sheldon
and had told the landlady they were
traveling and would stay in El Paso
for about two weeks.
They declared It was their Intention,
to remain here for a while and secure
Miss Anderson had a diary In which
she made notes of the various towns
through which they had passed and
ended with the quotation: "El Paso
and God knows where."
The youngsters bad brought all their
clothing in three butt cases and a.
small hand satchel and had managed
to elude the officers.
Sheriff Potter arrived In the city yes
terday, but his search for the girls
proved fruitless until this morning,
when he saw them looking at the alli
gators and told them they would have
to go home, whicli they agreed to- do.
Both said they would have run If they
had seen the sheriff, as they knew him
-well, but they seemed pleased at the
prospect of returning to their parentel
homes fyls evening.--
