At 8:20 this morning the central fire
department was called to the El Paso
theater by an aarm turned in from
the corner. A wooden trash box in
the rear of the theater had caught fire
and was extinguished with buckets or
water. No damage was done.

the Elks on its pilgrimages to Buffalo
The El Paso temple will join the other
Texas temples and the Texas delega
tions at the New Orleans conclave will
be one of the strongest of any state
in the union. Leaving EI Paso on board
a special car, the members of El Maida
temple will be joined at Spofford by the
Mexico City temple and- these two
temples will join tlie Dallas, Galveston
and Houston temples at Houston, the
entire Texas delegation. with the
Mexico Citj' Shriners as its special
guests, will move on New Orleans in a
special train and will take the town by
storm. Dallas, Houston and Galves
ton will each have patrols and with the
El Paso burro patrol and the crack Gal
veston band, the Texas shrine will be
conspicuous during its stay in New

the imperial council, Ancient and
Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic
Shrine, which is to be held in Xew
Orleans the week of April 7 to 14. This
was decided at the meeting held Fri
day night for the purpose of installing
the new officers of El Maida temple.
R. D. Richey, the newly installed il
lustrious potentate, was given power
'o make arrangements for the pilgrim
age of El "Maida temple to New Orleans
and was given permission to spend any
sum. within $1500 for uniforming and
transporting this patrol. The new po
tentate will be assisted by past poten

Friday, the grand jury returned 13
indictments, four of which were for as
sault to murder and the balance on
burglary and theft charges. Those in
dicted are Jose Ronquillo, Luis Hernan
dez, Levi Piper, Lonnie Goodman,
charged with assault with Intent to
murder; Jorgen Jacobson and Frank
Wilson, burglary and theft over $50.
Miguel Galindo, burglary. There are
four other indictments out but the
parties are not yet in custody.
